From what I've heard today, the consensus in my part of the country seems to be that the Americans have made the village idiot president...twice in a row.

    Mioque,

That is not a very nice thing to repeat. When I hear something that might hurt a person's feelings, I don't repeat it. I'm very pleased that Bush won!!!!!!!!

Considering the stuff normally posted on the politics section of this board this isn't even close to being not very nice.

Sadly, Mioque's report is valid. For some reason many Europeans feel like Americans are incapable of proper self rule.

Of course, I often feel like European voters make major errors in voting for their leaders as well.

76.2% of 7509 Aussies in that poll went for Kerry   Dubya getting 8.5% is bad enough, but Kerry getting more?!?!

Anyways, mioque I guess the fear of the village who-knows-what made the village idiot look good...

I'm fairly certain that the current PM of my country got elected in large part because he looks like Harry Potter.

I think what surprises, even shocks, many Americans is that Brits, Europeans and Aussies generally can't stand whoever is in power in anyone's country, especially our own, and therefore delight in slagging off and lampooning our leaders, whether it be unfair comparisons of Bush to a trained chimp, Balkenende to HP, Blair to a well-meaning, slightly camp Anglican vicar etc

    Yours in Christ

    Matt,

Thanks for the insight. There are a few that post from other countries and I just don't get why they feel that way. Now I have a better idea and it will help me when I post to them. I don't make negative statements about their presidents or whatever their title is in their particular country.

I heard on talk radio today that George Bush scored higher than Kerry on some IQ exam for the military. Hummmmmmmmmm! Maybe that is part of why Kerry was reluctant to sign the form. Just a thought!

I was watching some Brittish nightly news show on C-Span this morning. They were saying that Bush was NOT really an idiot.

It's sad that that is even discussed in a serious manner.

    Quite true.

"This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will, and setteth up over it the basest of men." Dan. 4:17

"Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are His:
And He changeth the times and the seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge
to them that know understanding:" Dan. 2:20-21

Unfortunetly for the foreigners---polls don't count! What they need to do is----bring themselves over to the Land of Opportunity---, renounce their present citizenship in the country they live in----apply for Citizenship in the Land of the Red, White, and Blue---pass the citizenship test---raise their right hand over their heart---recite the Pledge of Allegence to the United States flag---and then---apply their sorry selves over to the local courthouse and register to vote---then get their sorry selves a job and pay taxes in the US like a US citizen---THEN---go to the elections and vote---then I'll hear them GRIPE over who deserves to be President and see if they have the same "Villiage Idiot" story to tell after they've done all that!!!

Feel free to go after Jan-Peter Balkenende (the Dutch Prime Minister), the man deserves the scorn heaped upon him more than the current POTUS does.
Call me a cynic but I believe that the real reason most Americans around here rarely say bad things about foreign heads of state/leaders of government is that they have no clue who they are!

I suspect tens of millions of Democratic party voters do.

"bring themselves over to the Land of Opportunity"
    "
Much of the dislike that many foreigners seem to have towards the US is based on the fact that they don't want to move towards the land of opportunity and they don't want the Land of Opportunity moved to them either. American culture and the American way of doing things move into their countries anyway ofcourse, causing some 'strain'.
