Texas A&M officially joins the SEC for the 13th member. What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea?

The SEC claims that there are no more expansion plans for the current time. Do you believe them? If not, who would be the most likely choice to go to 14 members -- Missouri, West Virginia, Louisville? Anyone else?

One more. Last year, TA&M won 6 post season Big 12 championships - 3 for track & field, 1 for equestrian, 1 for tennis and 1 for baseball. How many SEC championships do you think TA&M will win their first year in the SEC?

This is the first ever expansion of the SEC since 1992 with Arkansas and another team I forget. As the SEC, once the laughing stock now is the most powerful conference ever! One of the top, if not THE TOP!

South Carolina was the other team to come with Arkansas. TA&M will do quite well in the SEC. Man, look at the SEC west!! TA&M, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, and Auburn.....all these in one side of the SEC!!! WOW!!!

Now, I have no clue as to who will be the 14th school. Rumors are flying that Mizzou has unofficially accepted an invite, but they need a school closer to the east coast, if you ask me. Mizzou would be better off in the west(geographically speaking), so, someone like WVU(I think highly unlikely), Clemson, Georgia Tech(UGA would probably protest), FSU(UF would protest), UMiami(good choice if you ask me), could be possibilities.

Personally, I think the move will bite them in the north end of a south bound mule. At some point in time, (even though they would never admit it), they will wish they never got so jealous at UT over that Longhorn Network.

They will now move from being one of the elite in the Big 12 to just another big state university in the SEC. Yes, the SEC West is packed, but how will A&M actually do against the likes of LSU, Alabama, Auburn, etc.? Somehow, I don't see them walking away with six post-season conference championships in the SEC. Ask Arkansas how many football championships they've won since the Southwest Conference?

Regarding SEC expansion, does anyone really believe that they will stay at 13? From the AP Wire today --

"Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart says the Southeastern Conference will expand again and officials at each school need to have a number of frank discussions before moving forward. Hart says the addition of Texas A&M as the SEC's 13th team was a good one, but the league's leaders must take their next steps deliberately because the SEC will expand again. He says those conversations will take place 'in short order.' "

Well as they do need to have an even amount of numbers. As it will take a long time, to get used to new teams like Texas A&M to be in the SEC. As it will be wierd to be in that conference, and not the Big 12 Conference, if I am not mistaken where they came from.

I can see A & M in the SEC West

    However

I also believe ---- if there are no other teams coming on board--- one team from the West will fare off better by making a move into the East

I prefer to see a move by Auburn to the East

In my opinion---a move by Auburn to the East will provide an opportunity for Alabama/Auburn to play each other in future Conference championship games-----if both are good enough--the rivalry can be brought to the Conference "Big House" in Atlanta!!!

Now that Mizzou is on board coming to the SEC (which makes even less sense than A&M joining), it's hard to guess what the SEC will do. It makes sense putting both Mizzou and A&M in the west and then putting an existing west member into the east (with Auburn being the most likely candidate). As a result of making the most sense, it probably won't happen.

Now that the SEC and ACC are both at 14 teams, it makes one wonder who they will go after next. Will the ACC go after UConn, Rutgers, Notre Dame or Navy? Will the SEC go after Houston, Louisville, South Florida or will they still try to get Texas to make the move? I'm afraid that interesting days are still ahead.
