So, the GOP has given us a guy who thinks that Jesus and Satan are brothers and a Catholic who gets his views on government from an atheist.

Is that not a little hard for Bible believing Christians to swallow?

Sure it's painful to think about. And I am really bothered by how Ryan once touted Ayn Rand as shaping his beliefs on his public service and now says that's not exactly true that he is more of a Thomas Aquinas man. I mean, come now, ..... which one is it?

But Romney's and Ryan's religious/philosophical foundations aren't going to make me vote for Obama.

I'm not excited about voting. We are going to be in a mess whomever goes in.

But the GOP as NEVER been 100% about the evangelical Christian's worldview.

All your posts insisting that Obama is a legitimate office holder which Christians must accept tend to belie the apparent purpose of your thread here.

Obama is a Marxist, and you look for every reason to defend him, and Romney is much more conservative and you look for every reason to indict him.

Yes, it's a problem and its a bitter pill to swallow but think of this:

By comparison Mr. Obama's spiritual leader of 20 plus years publicy cursed America asking God to d**n it.

I think the lesser of two evils prevail?
Come to think of it how does one measure evil?
    Can it even be measured?

My own measure has abortion top of the list.

Hopefully if R&R wins, the nation can solve some of it's fiscal problems as well as moral issues.

Other wise what are we to do?

There is no third party or alternative that even makes a visible blip on the screen.

All this talk about Obama being a Marxist is crazy. You obviously never read Karl Marx. Much less a Marxist, he isn't even a socialist. Or if he is, he is not a very good one. He has governed more from the right and center than many GOP presidents. It is easy to toss terms around, but give some examples of Obama implementing any of Marx's views, showing where they tie back to Das Kapital.

Do you know the above statement is true? Have you heard Romney say that Jesus Christ and Satan are brothers? I think not!

Ryan is not Catholic, he is Roman Catholic!

I never cared for Ayn Rand, in fact avoided reading anything she wrote, but that does not mean she did did not have some good ideas about government. Are you acquainted with anything she wrote, her philosophy of government?

I heard Ryan say yesterday that we get our freedom from God. The form of government he espouses is that expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. So what is to complain about, unless you are a democrat?

The government that democrats long for is demonstrated in Europe and worse, the late Soviet Union.

We saw what Bible believing Christians gave us in 1976, the disaster called Jimmy Carter. Jesus Christ is my pastor, my God! Unlike democrats I do not look on a democrat president as a god!

    1) Governor Romney was a Mormon bishop - you don't get that far without believing Mormon doctrine.

    2) Yes, have read Atlas Shrugged and several of her comments. She is an atheist and it is very apparent in her writings. I realise Ryan has backed off from his adulation of Rand since he starting looking for the Christian vote, but that doesn't change the fact that he has been an ardent follower of an atheist.

Have you been asleep the last 4 years?

I believe Obama falls under the umbrella of Marxism as practiced but I believe he leans more to the Fascist/Nazi form!

I asked if you had heard Romney say Jesus Christ and Satan were brothers?

That is the typical leftist smear statement!

Can you source a Ryan statement of adulation of Ayn Rand? If so you need to present it, if not you need to retract the above statement!

    1) I answered your question - you don't get to be a Mormon bishop while denying their wacky theology

    2) Here is an example - he has long association with the Altas Society

    http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/newsdesk/2012/08/paul-ryan-and-ayn-rand.html

    Another link

    http://www.atlassociety.org/ele/blog/2012/04/30/paul-ryan-and-ayn-rands-ideas-hot-seat-again

and he requires his staff to read Atlas Shrugged

So you have not heard him say that Jesus Christ and Satan were brothers. Not to worry, I haven't either!

The New Yorker is a poor source for objective reporting!

Ayn Rand was against collectivism; I am also. Does that mean I am an "ardent follower" of an atheist!

Speaking of atheism; many democrats politicians are devotees of the leftist ideology of socialism/communism. Obama's mentor as a teenager was a communist. He has said that in college he sought out socialists and communists to "hang out" with. With Obama these associations have stuch. Everything he has done in office has shown that he is an ardent leftist, starting with his trillion dollar bribe to assorted supporters, his efforts at socialized medicine, his frequent executive orders that indicate his dictatorial mind set, and his narcissistic and sociopathic personality!

Most people blow a little smoke, depending on the audience!

If we were voting for religious leaders it would obviously be a concern. But we are not. The ideal prez and VP candidates would be mainstream Bible-believing Christians like most of us, but we have to play the hand we are dealt. From a religious point of view, I think it is our responsibility to vote for the candidate who most closely shares our moral values and will govern accordingly, regardless of their specific theological beliefs. This includes a broad spectrum of things, from abortion to the size and scope of government, because there are moral implications to all of them. In this regard, clearly Romney is the far better choice. He would govern much more the way I, as a Christian, want my president to than Obama has (and with Obama it would only get much worse in a second term when he never has to face election again!). So given what they are running for and what the options are, no. Not hard to swallow at all.

Religious discrimination from you with regards to the office of President. I am actually surprised.

I didn't express my view - I have no problems from that perspective. I wonder why it is not a problem with the Christian right who seem to expect their leaders to act as pastors.

So know it is acceptable to the religious right to not even profess Christ?

Sorry but your posts imply otherwise.

That is a pejorative intended to shut down discussion. And not very realistic either.

Is that supposed to be 'now". Honestly you seem to exaggerate anything regarding the right.

Could you define the "Christian right" just so we will all know where you are coming from.
