Hi, I'm Miss Maggie and I'm new. I tried to respond to some threads about head covering and the threads were locked and I couldn't. Then I think I was told that I can't discuss headcovering as an issue here on the Baptist boards. If that is true, then I will follow this rule and keep any thing about it to myself, but before I do that, can someone please confirm for me that it is wrong or illegal to discuss headcovering and modest dressing here. I would have put this in the women's forum, but the posts I put there were deleted.

I am trying to be respectful and to do the right thing. I am terribly confused about this. Can someone please share some wisdom with me in this area. Thank you so much for understanding.

    Maggie

Miss Maggie~I am very sorry you were met by this. It has rattled me real good. Guess there's lots other stuff you can talk about, so I've been told.

I know you're free to discuss drinking or thongs or the weather. Recipes go great. You can talk about carnal movies, rock stars or wizards. yep. plenty to talk about. Just not feminine attire or modesty or holiness or the such.

Miss Maggie, since you stated that you are a member of the Southern Baptist Convention in your profile, you are a Baptist, and you are free to post anywhere you wish on the borad (except the Baptist Men's Private Forum ;) ).

What you may be referring to is in the Fundamental Baptist Forum. It is true, the thread was closed at one time but then reopened again, so you are welcome to contribute constructively..... You will find the forum at the following link:

sigh... I locked the threads in the womens' forum, requesting that the four or five of you to whom it is of such great interest that you are willing to spread it all over the board would please continue your discussion in private. Evidently you are not interested in simply discussing it, however, but in evanglizing it! Is this an obsession with you ladies?

    Dear Ladies,
I have started one in the fundamental section. Let's praise God for the freedom He gives us. Please join me there.

    To the Moderator Clint,
I truly appreciate that you were willing to allow this discussion here. Thank you for that.

Hi Granny. How ya been? Haven't talked to you in ages.

As I said, Maggie is free to post her topic here if she likes. I doubt that any moderators in this forum will shut it down. By posting here in general Baptists, the relative "peace" of the ladies' forum will be maintained while at the same time a far larger cross section of opinion will be presented.

Are there any topics you wish to post here, Granny? ;)

    Helen,
Just as you enjoy teaching about creation and other topics. There are a small amount, you mentioned five of us who do enjoy sharing what the Lord has done in our lives in these areas. And with over 4,700 members and more reading we know there are those who are seeking in this area. Perhaps you could start a thread for those seeking to wear pants only, no headcoverings, etc. I am not telling you what to do, just a suggestion.

Bless you for your generosity Clint. And Barnabas, thank you for answering my question so clearly.

For everyone else, I send my appreciation for your welcoming open arms. It is nice to know I am among friends. [IMG]

Greetings to you, too, Bro.Clint! Yes, this "gerber baby" has been getting into so much trouble lately I'm afraid. Don't mean to, as it goes against the grain & has caused me much shame.

Anyway, no thanks, no topics that I can think of at the moment. I usually just like to comment on others' but even that has taken on a new twist.

You are such a dear man(a teddybear, really) & I'm gonna come see your church one day. I guess I've rambled on enough but that's what grannies do when they don't have a wee one to "spoil". ;)

    HCL -

Once again, as stated, you have carte blanche to start your discussion here. Please feel free to do so. Helen and Margie have set a more peaceful tone in the ladies' forum than you will find in this one as they find it more edifying to the women who contribute to this board. I suspect that if your intention is to reach a broader audience of these "seekers" you will find this a more widely read forum than the women's forum. This forum is the second busiest on the board.

You are likely to meet more resistance and support here as well but that's the way it is when you are contending for your faith. I see no need for this thread to continue. Post what you like, I will moderate it in a relatively hands off way, though I reserve the right to hold these views to Scriptral scrutiny if I contribute. [IMG]

    Miss Maggie -

    You're welcome.

    Granny -

    Don't be a stranger. [IMG]

Before closing this thread, I had seen the thread in the Fundamental forum, Granny, though I refrain from posting there. It should be noted that Granny and I disagree on practically every non-essential element of faith but I think she's a right good ol' gal and I think of her as a friend, despite our polarized views.
