I'm really wanting to clarify this, so I hope some mods weigh in.

General Baptist Discussion is under Debate Forums, which suggests that all four forums here (the other 3 being Baptist Bible Study and Theology, Fundamental Baptist Forum, and the Bible Translations/Versions) are primiarily for debate, or at least discussion of viewpoints on serious topics.

The word "discussion" in Baptist Discussion throws people off, making them think apparently that we can discuss things here like coffee, ink, and hand towels. I always thought "discussion" meant discussion as in debate and sharing viewpoints on somewhat serious topics. I thought topics like what kind of coffee you prefer belong in the Fellowship Forums.

So what do you think/prefer? Vote and let us know! You can choose more than one, but please be consistent, don't mess up the poll!

Please note I posted a lot of fluffly threads that garnered many response. So I go and post a serious thread - a poll, no less -- and no one replies!

Let common sense prevail. One thread on coffee went 3 odd pages of light discussion in an otherwise serious forum. The one thread did not disrupt the forum as did all those other frivilous, self-centered threads leading nowhere but throwing the entire forum off centre.

    My opinion.

You didn't post it that long ago. Give it time.

Well, I disagree they were self-centered since I posted them. Besides, people started posting answers on those threads like crazy! They seem to be enjoying them.

I should have a question above offering the option of fluff.

    Marcia,

I don't like it that I come back to the BB after taking a break for Christmas to find one of the Fora that Moderate junked up with threads, started by you (attempting to make a point), that belong in the "All Other Discussions Forum" in the Christian Fellowship Section. If you were concerned about other posters starting threads in the wrong Forum or wrong Section of the BB you should reported the error using the "Report Bad Post" icon and simply waited for the BB Admins and/or Mods to take action. The approach you used created a bunch of extra work. Don't do this again.
