And only a true Christian American believes in torture! Don't worry rev no need to feel ashamed...all "real Christians" should believe in torture. :1_grouphug:

What I've been wondering about is: what is the definition of torture for you anti-torture folks ? That is, if I've missed its being defined somewhere in this board's threads.

Do our CIA boys actually inject their "victims" with pain-causing substances ? Or pull out their nails one by one ? Or work on them with water or rubber hoses ?

Back in the heydays of the dictator in my country, they tortured my friends by hanging them by their thumbs, their feet just barely touching the floor, swung them, and then hit them with hard rubber bats.

Do our guys do that, too ? Torture. Do they attach electric iodes to the nipples and run current ? Do they swipe their noses with toothpicks with human excreta at the end while singing "its' been a blue, blue day, I feel like running away...." ?

    What is torture ?

Do they make their "victims" stand with their toes and noses touching the walls, no water, no food, and bat them from behind if the nose so much as leaves the wall by a centimeter ?

    What ?

Or do they have these thugs and murderers go into extreme pressure by continous investigation, continous questioning, until these germs could no longer tell the difference between up and down, left and right, night or day ?

I don't call that torture. That is pressure. Extreme yes, but where no physical pain is added to psychological stress, I can hardly call that torture.

Terrorists are a far different breed than criminals.
Criminals will sell out for a song if it is for their benefit, especially when confronted with evidence, and skilled investigators need only exert slight pressure.

    Terrorists, though, are different.

They have had training on interrogation. They have a cause they are advancing, and are willing to die and suffer extreme pain for that cause. It will take more than skill to make him talk. It needs pressure, psychological pressure. Extreme psychological pressure.

I'm sorry, you can call me unsaved if you all want, but I think we need to give our men a free hand within the bounds of "no fingers laid", yes, but let them apply the most extreme pressure they can.

Otherwise, let's start a fund drive for the benefit of those under investigation to cover their legal expenses, and help them sue the men and women of our country tasked with protecting us at all costs.

Christian ministers who endorse torture. I am speechless!

I guess the critics of Christianity are right when they say if Christians ever gain absolute rule, there will once again be inquisitions and torture. I sincerely pray that RM doesn't represent the thinking of most Christians today, and I am ever thankful for whatever shred of Thomas Jefferson's "Wall of Separation" remains in the U.S.

Once we de-humanize the enemy, we become him and he has already won.

    Who Would Jesus Torture?

I saw the word "torture" in quotes, and I know you guys saw it, too. So at least try to be honest in your attacks.

Torture is in quotes, because every thinking person knows every American veteran went thru worse in boot camp.

    Pathetic.

Really? When did the Army add waterboarding and real fear for their lives to the boot camp training routine?

More men have died in boot camp than in club Gitmo.

And you know Mr. Mitchell doesn't condone torture. He used it in quotes, and I think it's dishonest of you to pretend otherwise.

Criticize his definition of torture, but don't twist his words around.

I havent intil this post made a statement on this op. The quote is from the article not my words. Just because an article is posted or a video is not telling of the persons position who posted.

As far as what gets condoned on this board by whom, well thats just funny.

My sister in law was grazed with a bullet during boot camp.
She was crawling through the mud, while bullets were buzzing over them.
She raised up a little bit too far, and was shot.

I would call that fear for my life...

Actualy what is hillarious is those who are trying to take the high ground on water boarding and support the murder of innocent unborn children.

Torture no. I do not support it. Waterboarding, sleep sepravation yes. And as we have seen it works and saves lives.

There is danger in military training, no doubt. But that is not the same as being tortured by a foreign power who you don't know what they will do. Boot Camp may seem like torture, but torture it ain't! :)

I had to recite my fifth general order, as a sentry, before I was allowed out of the tear-gas chamber. I was locked in a smoke-filled room, with air too hot to breathe, and forced to follow a chain I couldn't see, and had to again, recite an order before I was let out, barfing. I had to tread water in a pool with 55 degree salt water, I had to march two miles back & forth to every meal, I had to stencil clothes until 3 in the morning, was forced to run for miles & miles, did push-ups until puddles of sweat gathered under me, all while me, my mother, & religion or anything else SK1 Carter could thin of, were insulted beyond anything that could be considered decent. I had to carry an M-14 at an elevated level while running.

Torture at club Gitmo. All charges leveled by people who were never there. It is to laugh.

    One more thought....

As far as a "fear for life" is concerned, there were times during boot camp where I was praying to die.

I agree, Is it torture to kill and cut an unborn baby out of its mother. How about Terry Schiavo, they starved her to death slowly. No water no food for days on end. Nurses were not even allowed to wet her mouth to keep her tounge from swelling and spliting. Was that less torture then playing loud music and keeping a suspect awake to long.

    "Wars" on dopers and porn???????

Next we should apply torture techniques on dopers and porn sellers? In the old days horse thieves were hung. Should we hang people for auto theft?

I remember when the Soviet Union:

    - tortured prisioners
    - held people without charges
    - performed extra-judicial killings
    - invaded other countries on a pretext of lies
    - spied on its citizens without warrants
    - held secret trials with secret evidence
    - lied to the media

I was proud that in America we did no such things. It gave us moral superiority. The rest of the world looked upon America as a beacon of freedom and fairness. They wanted to be like us. We could hold our heads high.

Just because a thing like euthanasia, abortion, or torture is eminately practical does not make it morally acceptable.

    Practical does not equal moral.

America slides further into moral degeneracy.

If you can not see the difference between what the USSR was doing and what we are doing, your are blinded by your own political retoric.

Excellent point. My libby buddies told me it was about "quality of life". It amounted to torture, until death. It was awful. Yet the same folks who told me it was OK, now tell me we have to treat enemy combatants like Romper Room kiddies.

Nobody complained when Reno did it in Waco.
