It started as the standard, I believe, when a former president didn't know what the word "is" is. It's called parsing words. Never heard of parsing words until that happened. :tonofbricks:

Because you see something that is clearly out of bounds in civil conversation and you think it is okay. I think we deserve more than that kind of childish politics whether from a candidate or a news source.

So you really think Obama is that dumb? I don't. He is smarter than that. He knew exactly what he was saying. The only time I am aware of McCain saying it, it was said about a health care plan, not a person.

The standard should be easy: common decency and fairness with people's words. If we hold people to that standard, this type of stuff is universally condemned. It seems to me that only someone with fairly extreme bias would defend it.

BTW, think of the irony here: In your "judgment" you are upset that someone misrepresents Obama's words about the lipstick on a pig, but you are not upset that someone misrepresents Palin's words about war and God.

Isn't that a double standard? Surely if you are upset about the Obama deal you should be equally upset about Palin. Isn't this just a case of your demonstrating your bias?

I seriously doubt that political misrepresentation started with Clinton. Certainly you don't believe that. You're just making yet another ridiculous statement about the Democrat party. Someday Americans will wake up to the fact that Republicans like GW Bush have done a tremendous amount of damage to our country. But you don't really care about that, do you?

    Still ignoring us, Ken ?

Yeah, I know everything gets edited, but this is Micheal Moore type of editing, or maybe just one step above it. I'm glad most interviews get the coughs, and the nosepicking, & all that kind of stuff out.

But most of America is in love with this woman, and such twisting of her words will come back and bite them, I believe.

Yes I do believe that. The parsing of words started when Clinton said, "it depends on what the word "is" is. And when he lied under oath. That changed everything in the everyday usage vernacular, as just was said by PL:

At least that was the standard I was raised with.

I agree that some Republicans have done a tremendous amount of damage to our country. I am no big GW fan and if you think that, you have missed my equal opportunity criticism of him on this board.

But the Democratic Party of Death has killed more of our citizens. How's that for ridiculous but true?

But McCain used the phrase 3 times directly regarding Hillary. (test, test, is this mic live). Why isn't someone saying Obama stole McCain's line? That would be more accurate.

The mic is live, but you aren't saying anything. As I said, the only occasion I have seen documented is when he said it about the health care plan. If you have occasions where he said it about a person, I will condemn that too. He shouldn't have said it. But as I am sure you understand, I am hesitant to take your word for it.

Because he didn't. You can't steal a line that is an ages old proverb. Proverbs are generally public domain type of things.

(test, test, is this mic live) ... He didn't use it toward McCain. He addressed it toward Palin drawing off her comments at the RNC.

Most? did you say Most! In love! bit over the top

This is a little too much emotional touchy feely don't ya think. To be fair and balanced she has energized the Pat Robertson and James Dobsons of the world.
You are clearly smitten, I suggest you vote for her:thumbs:

MOST Naaaay! but some have been smitten.

so what they edited it,they all do,if anything it probably helped her and we heard a lot less.

    "Charlie"

    "What do you mean Charlie"

    "In what respect ,Charlie"

yeah I would edit a half a million Charlies too, she was clearly trying to use a tactic on him with the overuse of his name.

Sarah Palin is dangerous with her past Pentecostal Indoctrination, tongues, words and voices from God, deliverance from demons, holy laughter and dancing.

One heartbeat from the Presidency with the emphasis on being Rapture Ready with a perverse danger in that Pentecostal upbringing.

Just her silly talk of war with Russia was wacked, the cold war is over and this country will never buy into a 2nd cold war with Russia. Russia has Judeo-Christian roots in a nation that has thrown off corrupt rule of those of Josef Stalin where they were really persecuted.

Sarah Palin has this Hal Lindsey World view when she needs to really sit down with the likes of Henry Kissenger and get the real scoop.

Where is she going to get the troops to fight Russia? Did she think about that?

Her comments were about the responsibility of NATO nations to their allies. There could be another cold war. Russia is not done, and Russia is a very atheistic nation. Besides, totalitarian regimes don't need the permission of the people to have corrupt rule.

If you think the Soviet Union could never come back, perhaps some lessons in history are in order.

My name is Bro. Curtis. If you want to start calling each other names, I'll call you Miss Informed. OK ?

Ron Paul made it to our ballot, I found out last week. I am against the Iranian sanctions that are coming, and they will come if either Obama or McCain win. Obama wants to smile at them while their children starve, McCain wants to shake his fist at them while they starve. Not much of a difference, to me.

It is clearly the Obama people who have been smitten.
    Take care, Miss Informed.
