Acceptable Inclusive Language In Bible Translation

The ESV is not known for its inclusive language. However, it does use a fair amount. I will offer some snips of verses in which this is the case, and some not the case. My listing is not exhaustive.These are all from the book of Romans.

His praise is not from man but from God. (2:29)

Let God be true though every one a liar. (3:4)

For we hold that one is justified by faith (3:28)

Just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one (4:6)

For one will scarcely die for a righteous person --- though perhaps for a good person (5:7)

as one tresspass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads
to justification for all men (5:18)

in my inner being (7:22)

do what is honorable in the sight of all (12:17)

live peaceably with all (12:18)

approved by men (14:18)


So thirty percent of the above used non-inclusive language. And of course 70% used inclusive language.

The CSB and NASB 2020 employ inclusive language for all ten examples. And, need I say, many other versions use inclusive language in all the verses cited.
