    Is the NAACP being Inaugurated?

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- They're part of a long standing tradition that will soon become a part of Presidential history. The head of the Alabama NAACP, however, wants Mobile's Azalea Trail Maids to stay home on Inauguration Day, claiming the group reminds him of slavery.

Reminds him of slavery... What a self-centered statement. Who is he to take the joy away from the ladies just because it reminds him of slavery?

The NAACP is mostly interested in grand standing and publicity.

On the radio today heard a report where back in the 70's, there were 3 guys renting one of several apartments which an old home had been divided into by its owner/landlord, while they were attending college. When one roommate left, they advertised and interviewed for a replacement to help split the rent 3 ways as that accommodated their budget needs while in school: Of the several they interviewed, one was black and they were white, but he seemed to be the more serious regarding his maturity and serious educational goals and they 'invited' him to be the replacement. Everything was fine and there were no complaints and rents were paid until the day the landlady/owner visited and saw him sitting in a swing on the porch and asked him what was he doing there. When he responded that he lived there, she was shocked and wanted them all evicted as she didn't rent to (racial epitaph here). They refused to voluntarily leave and give up their lease and waited until they were served with an eviction notice. They took it to the nearest office of the NAACP and explained the situation thinking they'd get some legal help in countering the eviction notice. Two white guys and one black guy sat in the office of the NAACP explaining their situation and were told that they had a good case. They asked for help with legal counsel and were told the NAACP wasn't interested because it would be too low profile: If this had been a major corporation which would have given them publicity and added to their funding or membership, but it wasn't: The home was owned by an old woman, two of them were white, and, at best, it might make a small paragraph in the local section of the paper. They had lawyers lined up to take high profile cases but this wouldn't make the grade. .........I've heard similar stories over the many years of my life and my opinion of them and most similarly positioned organizations, such as the ACLU, is that they are largely opportunistic organizations: If it is not sensational or big enough to spark public interest or emotion.... either for or against, then the promise of hope which these organizations may represent to those who are unfairly treated or have their rights infringed without justification is just blowing smoke.

In less than 10 days we will have our first black man in the highest office of the land. While this doesn't mean that racism and discrimmination will not ocassionally raise an ugly head..... it does mean that race is not the inhibiter that it once was. I, for one, think that regardless of what we may think about President Elect Obama and the positions he has already proposed.... most of us can agree with him .....that in some ways, like him, many of us are also 'mutts' regarding racial or ethnic mix.

THis is in my neck of the woods. Mr. Vaughn, and his lap dogs, are nothing more than publicity prostitutes. They care nothing for black or white people. They're just interested in selling themselves for money. Mr. Vaughn has a hatred for white folk that I've not seen in many people.

This guy is a lowlife. Has been for years.

But then again...if we get along, this guy's cushy job ends. He has to keep conflict alive.

The NAACP has submitted an apology, according to the local news tonight..... after the story went nationwide to which there was a backlash of public opinion.

Like I said: NAACP, taking a stand as long as it benefits them! (puke smiley here)

The apology is at the link above.

Keep marginalizing yourselves, NAACP...you are now irrelevant, racist, and a relic. Go away. When blacks and whites get along, it destroys your reason for existence, erodes your power base, and generally ticks you off.

Run along, now...the adults want to talk.
