I'm watching on Hannity and Colmes right now about how we are putting "aid stations"...water fountains, etc...in the desert for illegal immigrants so they wont die of dehydration as they try to get to American cities.

    Huh???

"Lets make it easier for illegal immigrants who are flagrantly attempting to break the law and illegally enter this country, commit their crime."???

We need to stop illegal entry into the country at the borders...and if people are stupid enough to try and cross the desert they do it at their own risk.

I just cant believe we are putting aid stations to help people who are criminals and who refuse to enter this country in the proper ways like everyone else does.

Of course I'm in favor of completly closed borders anyway...all the way around this country, every inch of the border...due to our current situation of being under attack by terrorists.

But this buisiness of aiding criminals enter this country illegally just blows my mind.

I am not sure Mike, but I don't think it's our government that is putting out the aid stations. I have heard something about this, and if I remember correctly, it's not our government doing it, it's a private group that is doing this.

I have to agree with you that we should shore up our borders, but in the same token, until we do, as a Christian, I have to be supportive of offering of aid when someone needs it.

It's a double edged sword we carry, either we stop it from happening in the first place, or we help the people that need it, when they need it the most.

It is a problem, isn't it -- protecting our borders, without mistreating the alien (Ex. 22:21).

I don't blame them for trying to get here. I don't want them to suffer or die in the process.

But we can't let it go on, and remain a nation. As long as business thrives on these people, Bush won't do anything about it.

    That's the bottom line.

The problem with the immigrants needs to be regulated, but if they don't come, there will be a lot of work that simply won't get done.

There is no problem with immigrants coming into this country, it is the illegal immigrants that affect us in adverse ways. Big companies in the U.S. have used the cheap labor force of illegal immigrants to their unscrupoulus advantage. As for work getting done in the U.S. without the illegals I am sure that we will learn how to adapt to that situation as well.

I live in a rural area where the native kids simply will not, for any price, do farm work any more. The same goes for the local chicken plant. Two of my friends who are roofing contractors have quit hiring anything except Hispanic immigrants, AND THEY ARE PAYING THEM MORE than their former native black and white workers.

Now, if by adaptation, you mean to force welfare people to work....

In Mexico a worker makes about $4 per day. Tops at $10 Here they make about $64.

Would you come across a border if you were not working in your country and on top of that could make 6.4-16 times what you could in your own country? Unemployment is high in Mexico.

When I was pastoring it was sickening to see the farmers near the border hire Mexicans while they sit in their pickups and watch. What is even worse they bought their kids four wheelers to have fun on. The workers also worked on Sunday while their employers were in the church I pastored during a worship service. One time I confronted one about that and he gave me the excuse that his workers were not Christians. I told that is all the more reason they need to be in church. He did not like me too well after that. Most of the deacons were like that.

When I was a kid my parents had a dairy farm. We got up at 3:30 to milk the cows and got on the bus at 6:40. Went to school at 7:30 and got out at 2:30. Got ready to milk the cows again at 3:30 and were done by about 8:00 most of the time. We then finished our homework. While I was at school I worked on homework during brunch and lunch and after school.

My daughter tells me that most of her friends do nothing at home or work during the summer. She has helped me for the past four years in construction during the summer.

Even so , it is not enough. Hispanics will work two or three jobs to support their families while contactors will not take a cut into their own humongous profits to pay workers a decent wage.
In the end all of this nickle and dimeing by American business will destroy our economy.

OK, let's help the Mexicans out....
They don't want their people to stay in their own country, then we can take their country over - make it a new state....THEN they can have all our priviledges and rights - and live by our laws!

I say, let the Mexicans come over. but they must live by American laws, no longer being in Mexico.

Mexicans that come to America should be made to learn english. We are not in their country, they are in ours.

Job? The laborer is worthy of his hire. If they work, pay 'em what they are worth. You would expect the same.

And yes, by all means. Make it mandatory that they attend church services. The Word of God tells us to compel them, that means we are to urge them. Urging is not the same as inviting. Inviting is asking.

So, you believe in forced church attendance? How unusual.

Luke 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel [them] to come in, that my house may be filled.

Sure, this is part of a parable, but there is also a principle taught here as well.

Asking, 'Won't you go to Church?' is not as effectual in bringing conviction as, 'You really should be in the House of God.'

Genesis 49:10b and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be].

Can that be any church, synagogue, or mosque that we force them to attend?

    C4K,

I would say if they are working for you, living on your land, take 'em to your church.

I would not tell them just any denomination, as we both know there are many denominations out there that do not even preach Christ.

Sorry, don't want to derail the thread - must say I am amazed at advocating forced church attendance for adults with a free will.

As far as the OP is concerned, I can't see the wisdom in aiding criminal activity by provided assiatance to those trying to sneak in.

They pay more than the prevailing wage to Hispanic immigrants, because they show up sober, work hard all day, and don't mouth off.

    Jaime,

If thats the case, than I stand corrected. Of course, I have an excuse.

I was doing 2 things at the same time while watching that on Hannity and Colmes.

Watching the program while also posting on the inter...

    Never mind. :D

The main point I am making is that if people are coming across illegaly, rather than through the regular avenues, then they must have something to hide. They have illegal drugs with them? They dont want to be a "citizen" so as to be more difficult to track later by police?

I know that in many place the Mexicans are getting a reputation of being very much trouble makers.

I hope nobody misunderstands. I am very much...100%...in favor of the United States being what we have always been. A haven of rest for the poor, the persecuted, the "huddled masses" who want a better life for themslves. As an American and as a Christian I am in favor of that.

But we have proper procedures for that for good reason.

And I also agree with what several others have said. I am completly against this idea that we all should learn Spanish, etc, so as to better communicate. (this lunacy has made headlines out in California, the "land of fruits and nuts") [IMG]

If people want to come here, than THEY are to become AMERICANS, not the other way around.

And THEY...in my opinon...should be REQUIRED to learn English. And they should be required to pass a test proving they have learned to speak it and write it well before becoming a citizen.

    Mike

This may be true in your case Major and your friends are to be commended for doing the right thing but this is not the case for others.
Illlegals have cheapened the wages for many because they have been willing to work for less and corperate America has seized this opportunity to keep wages down for most hard working Americans. Because illegals will work for less they will cut down living cost by housing more than one or two families in thier homes which creates undesireable neighborhoods, hospitals are almost and some are forced to close because illegals cannot afford decent medical coverage and pay very little if any on for their Hospital stay and gang-style lifestyles that seams to be somewhat traditional in some families creep into our neighborhoods.

I am not against immigrants coming into this country and would be more than willing to help any decent family that is here illegally to acquire citizenship but it is like you have stated in a previous post that immigration needs to be better regulated.
