Angel Food Ministries

Yes, we have a distributing center here in a local Christian school for Angel Food Ministries.. it is a true blessing.

 

This looks like a great program!

 

I know that one of my sisters and her family are blessed by it. They get it to help cut down on the expense of their grocery bill and then are bless others with the money that they have left.

Anyone else have any experience either on the church side or recipient side?

 

My son and his wife have gotten it a few times before.

 

I looked into it a couple years ago and was considering doing it, then I totally forgot about it. Yikes! I'll have to check back into it again, but everything seemed to check out and it seems to be a great way to help people be able to afford groceries.

 

We're getting Angel Food for the first time this week, and we'll see how well we like it. I did get a request from a lady in our community to consider it, so i will be looking into it for our church also.

I looked into it, and talked with mom, and we're going to sign up for next month and see how it goes. Wish we'd looked into it sooner, this months list looks really good, I love ribeye steak.

 

We did get it a couple of times a few years back. First you have to buy the main package. (it was $25.00 then) There wasn't much in it we'd eat gave most away. We also got the Meat package. VERY small portions and very tough. So we gave Most away. Not such a good deal when your giving Most away. So We only did it twice.

 

A 6oz steak doesn't seem like a too small portion, I mean a serving of meat is only 3oz A pound of meat easily feeds 4, thats 4oz each. The servings sizes are standard and above. My son and his wife were very happy with it. According to the list, I can make 8 to 10 meals from the meat, except I do not eat smoked sausage, can't stomach it, too greasy. I believe the boxes are actually priced below market value, my son was old at least $10. and up to $20. below retail value. So a person is getting their money's worth, wether or not they decide to give it away isn't the fault of the prgram.

 

Our family buys Angel Food every month. We have been surprised at the good quality of the foods and meats that we have purchased. We used to spend $300-500 a month at the food store and we have cut that in half with Angel Food. I recommend the program whole-heartedly!

 

We got our first Angel Food order last week, the main package and then the produce special...cost us $51; and it was well worth it. We'll probably be eating off of it for a couple of more weeks. I did request information on the Angel Food website for us to consider distributing it from our church.

 

I called and we have to go in to sign up because we have to prepay, and I have to go all the way to glasgow for it. The days and times they've chosen are pretty inconvient, but mom nees it so we'll be going. And from the list I expect to feed us for a good amount of time.

 

We tried it a few years ago. As near as we could tell we saved about $20. That is if we has used everything in the package. We stood in line for about 2 hours. We decided not to do it again.

 

We pick ours up this Saturday. We stood in line for about 10 minutes, but thats going to depend on how many people in the program and how often they do sign ups. This church does sign ups 3 evenings a week for 3 weeks, they have 500 in the program. Pick up we will pull up to the door in the car, so we don't have to stand in line and carry it. The church web site says the boxes are valued at $50. to $78, I guess it depends on whats in it that particular month. The angelfood site says about $65. value, I think the actual value will depend on the area you live and general prices there. With the November menu I expect to feed the two of us for almost 2 weeks, suppers only. I guess I'll let you all know after Saturday, when I actually get a chance to cook some of it to let you know the quality.
