Basically, you seem to be asking if I would become a member of a reformed church, and my answer would be that would not be my preferred church, as hold to strong Dispyviews, but also would not avoid going there to listen to messages, see evangelists/missionaries, and would definitely try to have friends in that group!

Think what makes it easier for me is never was raised in ANY church/teaching/tradition un=til saved, so can appreciate all the different flavors of doctrine in the church...

Also, we teach and instruct in the essentails of the faith, and grant to members freedom to chose, as we do talk about the differing viewpoints within the church!

depends on how one defines the 'true Gospel of Christ," as some would say that mans ONLY a calvinistic view, others like me would say that while that is the best way to preach/teach it, evengelical arminianism also has the Gospel, just confused on some points!

Oh really.....well you should know by now that all of the points of the Doctrines of Grace point to one central truth & that is that salvation is all of grace because it is all of God.....and because its all of God, it is all for His glory. So in other words, all 5 points must stand together.

Like Sinclair Ferguson stated previously. in order to fully appreciate the glory of God in DoG (he was speaking for the understanding of Particular Redemption specifically), each person should understand the role of each person of the Trinity (or the Godhead). Election, found throughout scripture is the choice of God the Father. The atonement is the sacrifice of God the Son. Finally the grace that draws us to Christ & enables us to persevere to the very end is the work of the HS. Thus salvation is all of the Lord, from beginning to end.

But think about this a second......if this is in fact a definition of what a True Christian Church is.....then the RC's can make a claim, the UMC's could make a claim, Pentecostalism can make a claim. Right!?!

Any church holding to the biblical gospel [the blood of the cross] and looking for the return of Christ

I agree that theDoctrines of Grace as expressed in calvinism does explain the closest to what the process used by the Lord to save sinners, but do NOT hold to it being the ONLY valid model to express and use, as Evagelical arminianism does have the right Gosepl message, its just they don't jave all the points correctly covered!

the clear message of the Cross, and the teaching its its thru and by grace alone/faith alone takes out the RCC and many charasmatic groups!

As well as most mainline churches!

Would say those 2 groups are tricky, for they both seem ot teach "something" God does onbehalf of sinners inthe water baptism, but would say that if one say that as part of the salvation process, or required not true gospel, but if they saw it still as faith alone in Christ alone despite what is taught...

Of those 2 churches, would say presby teaches real Gospel, just confuse the true meaning and intent of water baptising, while Luthereyns on case by base basis if saved!

These are excellent points in the discussion.

It is the Scriptures that are the power of God, not human communication nor human contrivances.

Some decades ago, a preacher was asked how someone who is vile, and immoral could be used of God. The preacher pointed to the Scriptures as what God uses, the delivery mechanism may not be all that folks might agree as the best, but God can use what God deems usable.

The brand one carries is important, no doubt. For it carries the baggage of all that is imposed in the recognition of that brand - both sacred and secular.

It is God's word that is the power.

Would say that what the scriptures testify to isthe real power of the Gospel, thedeath and resurrection of Jesus, and that the Spirit makes that truth known and received by those whom God intended to save!
