    Good evening -

Tonight in Joshua, we witnessed the destruction and sacking of Ai. One has to assume that this invasion was a terrifying time for the inhabitants of Canaan. The deception by the Gibeonites was a desperate measure on their parts and they only pulled it off because, as noted in verse 9:14, the Israelite leaders did not consult God in their decision.

In Mark, the healing of the leper shows the respect that Jesus had for the Law of Moses, when in verse 1:44, He tells the leper to go to the priest for proper cleansing. As we explored in Matthew 8, the cured leper was told not to tell anyone. This could be because Christ did not want to become too public before the proper time in His ministry.

Our reading this evening in 1Corinthians begins exploring the divisions in the church at Corinth and analyzing their causes deeper. I think an entire sermon could be written on the phrase in verse, "Are you not acting like mere men?" What an admonishment for Christians! We expect divisions within the bodies of earthly institutions. We should be above such!

    May God bless you
