I will say, I think the whole thing of global warming (climate change) is blown way out of proportion. But we as believers should also not permit the "left" to capitalize on and own the issue of stewardship of our planet and resources. I think, even disagreeing passionately with "global warming" we should at least recognize that we do many less than helpful things to our environment and we often pay the price for it. We should be vanguards in honesty and intellectual curiosity to find beneficial, efficient and economical means for providing for our energy and transportation needs. I sincerely hope that some conservative leadership in the coming years will articulate this and move us toward that end.

 

You need to understand that global warming is not just about the temperature of the earth and who caused it. It is about gaining control of people and a Marxist agenda. Crabby has quoted charts widely used by the Global Warming enthusiasts, and he is partially correct. There is a connection between CO2 levels in the atmosphere and global temperature. Using ice core samples we can estimate the CO2 level and global temperature going back 400,000 years and the correlation is undeniable. Here is a chart that shows that:

But what the global warming community choses to ignore is that correlation does not mean cause and effect. In the case of CO2 and temperature it may well be the opposite.

That looks at the data and sees the correlation, but also the lag. You see when global temperatures rise, there is a rise in CO2 levels, but it usually follows anywhere from 200 to 1000 years later. The global warming is the cause of the CO2 increase not the effect.

The other obvious thing to notice from the graph is that both CO2 levels and global temperatures have moved up and down a lot. And without input from man.

Estimates from 800,000 now 400,000 years using ice samples--what is the systematic error of this measurement system? What are the assumptions in the equation regarding constants? How would this measurement system compare to something like carbon dating?

One more question: What would a world-wide flood do to the ice stratification and resulting data taken there from?
