Let us start with the symbols of Christmas found in and around our houses of worship around the time of the Saturnalia.

    1. Dead trees, adorned with more dead stuff--pagan.

    2. Wreaths--hanging on doors--pagan.

"What concord hath the temple of God with Belial?

    Comments, questions?

    Question:
    Are "Christians using Satanic Symbols?

    Ed's answer:
Yes. We are using Satan's symbols to beat
    the mealy mouthed critter down.
Satan is the father of lies and we are
stuffing his own symbols down his throat.

Nobody here would remember that a
Christmas Tree started out a satanic symbol
if there weren't for some joy stealers that
remind us. We have taken the tree from
Satan, we call it by the title CHRIST
and beat the lead devil over the head
    with it.

This song is full of my Master
    and Savior: Jesus, the Christ

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
    How lovely are thy branches

Anyway, to avoid ofending Pagans, please
capatilize "Pagan". If you cannot tell
the difference between a Pagan and a
Satanist, then you aren't smart enough to
    support your paranoia.

what reference do you have that these things are exclusively (or in any way) pagan? I know that some people believe the Christmas tree is pagan, although Ive also heard stories of it being developed by a Christian in order to glorify Jesus. But Ive never heard of a wreath being pagan.

If so, does that then mean everyone has to take down any circular object hanging on their walls?

    Leviticus 12:1-5 (KJV1769):
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman
have conceived seed, and born a man child:
then she shall be unclean seven days; according
to the days of the separation for her infirmity
    shall she be unclean.

3 And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin
    shall be circumcised.

    Luke 2:21-24 (KJV1769):
And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising
of the child, his name was called JESUS
    ,
which was so named of the angel before he was conceived
    in the womb.
22 And when the days of her purification according to
the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him
    to Jerusalem
    , to present him to the Lord;
23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every
male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)
24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which
is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves,
    or two young pigeons.

Here is how i see it happened:

    25 Dec 01BC - Day 1
    26 Dec 01BC - Day 2
    27 Dec 01BC - Day 3
    28 Dec 01BC - Day 4
    29 Dec 01BC - Day 5
    30 Dec 01BC - Day 6
    31 Dec 01BC - Day 7
    1 Jan 01AD - Day 8

    dedicated their walls to Satan.

Seems to me that Christians can turn everyday into a Day for Jesus Christ!

That's what we do at my house!

It's very simble, a symbol symbolizes what the symboler says, not what the symbolee sees.

I'm still not sure why christians insist on giving satan certain days on the calendar. Everyday is a day the Lord has made.

God made evergreen trees, anyway. God made eggs. God made bunnies. God made everything. So, the truth of it is, satanists and the father of lies have taken the original beautiful creations and turned them into evil for their own lusts. Satanists/pagans took from God and God's followers to make their counterfeit symbols, not the other way around! God was here first!

Wreaths are tied into the Pagan holiday of Yule. Pagans are not Satanists -- they do not believe in Satan.

There is nothing wrong with a Christian hanging a wreath because they are doing it to honor the birth of Christ, though Dec 25 is not the birthday of Christ. Christmas was first celebrated in May (and many believe that Christ was born in the spring because of the shepherds having their lambs out in the fields) but the Church changed it to cover the Pagan holiday of the winter solstice, which at the time was Dec 25 (and now is around Dec 21 due to the wobble of the earth's axis).

As I said on another thread just last night, Christians needs to stop worrying about symbols and the pagan origin of holidays and instead focus on praying for and witnessing to Pagans today. The Pagan religions are growing and more and more people are attracted to it.

Talking about these symbols (and most symbols change over time and culture) is time that could be spent praying for those Pagans who are lost and who need to know Christ! I had Pagan clients and friends when I was an astrologer and I cannot forget how much they need Christ.

Tomorrow, Oct 31, is a special Pagan holiday, Samhein (Celtic origin, pronounced Sow-heen). It's a good day to pray for these Pagans who will be celebrating the Pagan New Year and the veil between the 2 worlds being thinnest at that time (in their view). Many will also try to contact the dead. Pray for them, please!

    Christmas, Easter and wedding bands?

Do not observe Christmas and Easter in any religious way.

Have not considered wedding bands as pagan--will have to study that one a little.

Symbols, like words, have context. It's not what someone, somewhere, sometime in the past used it for, it's what one uses it for now that gives it its meaning.

    Jeremiah 10
1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

No Christmastree (or related dead vegetation) at my church. We do have a rather nice nativity scene. something like the following.
    http://www.collecto-mania.com/hummel/2004/HumStable.jpg
The person who donated it to us said that I looked like the Mary figurine (the old flirt [IMG] )

Nativity scenes were after all invented by Franciscus of Assisi, clearing them at least from any charges having to do with the Saturnalia.
