    Interesting irony [IMG] the KJVOs
that I talk to -- they hate the nKJV saying it
is based on the Alexandrian NOT the
    Byzantine. Tee hee

I only post here and don't run the place.
But I wouldn't mind talking about my
new Bible: the Holman Christian Standard
    Bible (HCSB) (Holman Press, 2003).

I find it all on-line right here:
    http://bible.crosswalk.com/

I have a paper copy also.
But it is incomplete :D no MAPS :(

Now, Brother Ed, would these maps be from the Alexandrian or Byzantine line of manuscripts? :D

I primarily use the NIV because it reads so smoothly and is so easy to understand. It is the translation that helped me to understand what Christ has done for me and what it means to be a Christian. I also have an NASB that I am starting to enjoy, because it is a more literal translation. I have a KJV but rarely refer to it; the langage is too archaic for me -- perhaps becaused I was not raised with it.

Normally use the NIV. Still have my old KJV from years ago but rarely use it.

Personally, the KJVO's (not the KJV preferreds) are scary.

Call me KJVO if I use the KJV.

Call me KJVO if I believe the KJV is most accurate translation.

Call me KJVO if the KJB is superior to modern versions.

Do not call me KJVO If I reject the KJV inspiration.

Do not call me KJVO if I reject the KJV perfection.

I'm OKJV...only King Jesus version; hey I like that! I've never read nor do I follow Ruckman, Gail, Gipp, et al...but they have been accused of warping my sense of reason and it's really those others-I won't name names-who put words and twist things. Oh well, OKJV, or KJVO, I love the Holy Bible and none other.

Distortion! Mis-Information! The manuscript evidence shows that Greek MSS supporting the KJV is 99%! -- Compare to Only 45 MSS supprting to MVs is 1%!!! That is the KJV superiority.

The KJV is understandable as MVs -- Let me give you a few examples:

    Colossians:

    KJV - 6.86
    NIV - 7.61
    NKJV - 8.79
    NASV - 8.97

    Ruth

    KJV - 5.08
    NKJV - 5.41
    NIV - 5.53
    NASV - 5.78

Lowest is best to understand and read. What are you complaining for?

Hey, yeah; they're always harping about "king james", but let's see 'em do that with King Jesus! I mean, if they can invent this "king james only" stuff, even tho' it's always been, then we can say, "no~ only King Jesus", eh?! [IMG]

Where did you get those numbers? Did you just make them up?

I prefer to have a relationship with God in Heaven as Father, and Jesus as Brother. I like and I need that personal intimate relationship. But I like the way you put it!

I gotta point out that you use only the KJV, which is fine, which I encourage, and I respect. What I greatly appreciate is that you don't belittle me, think less of me, or question my salvation, because I use another translation. For this I am thankful and blessed.

Hey, Johnv~and as far as I can remember, I don't believe you've ever posted any condescending remarks towards me, so thanks for that! BTW, I'm no one's Holy Spirit and the only Bible I've ever used for all these years will stand on its own, even without my help. ;)
