Maybe that's because some of us are sick because we can see the evil and impending doom barrelling down upon us. It's long past time we got angry, furiously angry at sin, and passionate about fighting it.

Maybe this election will do one good thing for the church. It will bring persecution which will separate the sheep from the goats. Maybe then God will purge his church of sin and the lukewarm attitude we've grown accustomed to.

 

I am absolutely aghast at the blatant ignorance demonstrated here. This president-elect is no more responsible for abortion than the presidents of the past 30 years. What did they do to stop free abortion? Absolutely nothing!

Secondly, ignorance is displayed when you combine socialism and communism. If you knew anything about history, you would know the difference. Many countries enjoy socialism and we are not communist by a stretch. We just believe when Jesus said sell what you have and give to the poor, He meant it. We just believe that when Jesus protected the prostitute from stoning, and didn't condemn her, He meant it. There are many other examples of the social policies of my Lord and Saviour Jesus the Christ.

I am a socialist - a democrat with social responsibility - and I am not a communist, nor do I deny the existence of God and I preached only the love of God and Divine grace unto everlasting life.

By the way, and in passing, did you happen to notice that all the states that opposed the president-elect were former KKK states....I remember them well during my days in the civil rights movement.

Make sure what you're on fire for is the Lord and not your own righteous cause. If you want to be angry at sin, be angry at all sin and not just a chosen few you feel are atrocities. Gods Church is without sin, spot or wrinkle.

Thanks, Jim. You are a voice of reason in a sea of irrationality. I predict that Obama will will be nowhere near as bad as he is being portrayed on this forum. The hate being expressed here is incredible. I also predict that he will be nowhere near as good as many people (but very few on this forum) expect him to be. His successes will gall his opponents. His failures will disappoint his supporters.

For the last eight years, we have been under the sway of an ideology that has seen religion used as a tool for molding the masses into a compliant base. But the promises that they made of prosperity, success, an end to abortion and gay marriage, and a semblance of world domination, were only for a few.

Now we have a president-elect who promises changes for the better for everyone. These promises look a lot like the ones we've been hearing for the last eight years. But I think that there is a different spirit behind them. They call forth a cautious optimism in me. But, as I have said in another thread, as long as the new president doesn't screw up things too much in the next four years, he will be a raving success. I intend to see if I can make some small contribution to the change for the better that is coming. I encourage you to do the same.
