For more information about what huge corporations profit from the sale
of pornography, go to the links below. Many people have no idea that
AT&T, General Motors, and AOL/Time-Warner are even peddling these
destructive products...

Also from the Cincinatti Enquirer:

GM makes the following brands of vehicles:

Buick
Cadillac
Chevrolet
Hummer
Oldsmobile
Pontiac
Saab
Saturn

Buy a Ford!

Actually, I bought a Jeep. ;)

I've known about AT&T for a long, long time. That's why I dial 10-10-811 as in 10-10-811-1-(222)123-4567. It's 5 cents per minute 24 hours per day. (including inside the state) Minimum charge 50 cents. So you can talk 1 hour for 3 bucks. [IMG]

Edited to say there is no minimum fee on your phone bill each month, either. So, if you don't use long distance that month, there is no charge. [IMG] Sweet & simple! :D

What makes you think that Ford is not involved in something equally as immoral? Please, don't blame the automotive side of G.M. for what is going on at echostar/direct tv, if I'm not mistaken, according to the last corporate report G.M. was in the process of selling off their holdings. If you're going to point fingers at these corporations then please include Disney in your statements, they are after all targeting children. :D

I'm beggining to feel that as a Christian I should spend a lot less money in general and stop funding the economy and the immoral coporations of this world. I think the less money that everyone spends, the better off the world will be from a moral perspective. The world needs to break free of it's dependence on money and be humbled a bit.

No doubt all of us could cut actual spending virtually in half, or more, and still not give up any necessities; lots of goodies, yes, but not necessities.

Now please don't read into this more than is printed, but all of us need to remember that it's all His, and how we spend the 90% or 80% or whatever is left after giving back to Him, is still an accountability that each of us must accept.

I fully believe that we may be in more "trouble" because of self-serving spending than we'll ever be for not giving "enough"!

MY PERSONAL OPINION, NOT TO REFLECT ON ANYBODY ELSE!!!!

I just recently canceled my AOL-Time Warner cable service and my AOL
account as well. I'm kind of disappointed in myself for wasting 70
dollars a month on two services that were far less than worth it. I
just signed up for Netzero's free Internet service and I look forward
to enjoying it because I know it's FREE. It sure beats paying all that
money only to get greeted with a bunch of nonsense and pop-culture
fluff each time I sign onto AOL, not to mention the constant porn ads
that AOL is a magnet for. Setting up an account with www.netzero.com
was very simple. It took me about 10 minutes and the program
automatically configured my Outlook email program to use their mail
service too.
I believe the major part of my decision to cancel these two services
was a conviction from God to be wiser with the finances HE has so
graciously given me. I don't really gain much from AOL and cable TV,
but I do lose the money God gave to me. In addition, the money I had
been giving to AOL-Time Warner directly enables them to continue piping
all kinds of smut into the homes of families in the US. I personally
don't see how any Christian could not feel convicted if they are
helping finance such things. I understand that Christians in this
country are intricately woven into the economy and that we can't always
police how money gets spent after it leaves our hands, but we should
try to keep in mind how our spent dollars affect the world as a whole.
Are they doing more harm than good? I don't want to ever reach a point
a point in my life where I look back and have regrets. I also don't
want God to ask me one day why I shelled out 70 bucks a month to
AOL/TimeWarner and didn't help feed a starving child. Go to
www.worldvision.org for more info on that [IMG] I hope I stirred your
thoughts. If so please consider forwarding this message to your family
and friends. God Bless and have a great day.

As my father used to say, one cannot picket or boycott every single company. We can write letters of disatisfaction about what they are doing, and we can temporarily boycott things, but if we try to avoid every company that is "involved in something"
we won't be buying food, prescription drugs, or anything else.
I have to agree with my father. When you buy from many of the companies these days you're supporting not only homosexuality, condoms for kids, drugs in the schools, and many other things that Christians stand against. If you want to become overly separated, you should buy a donkey, live in a monostary and grow your own food. Some people try to take it to ridiculous extremes.

To ensure that everyone completely understands: Netzero is not completely free. You have to put up with advertisements, and you only get 10 hours a month free. If you want unlimited access, you only pay $10 a month (as opposed to over $20 a month with AOL).

There is a local internet service provider in your town (there always is) that offers you unlimited internet access for less than $15 a month; just open up your yellow pages and start shopping around.

As for boycotting General Motors--well, I just can't drive a Ford.... [IMG]

Hey now! Don't attack my Ford!!! LOL [IMG] We've had a Ford Aerostar minivan for over six years now and it's still a great vehicle. We had several Lincolns (Ford Product) and many, many LTD's. But, we've had our GM Products, too. Right now we've also go a Chevy Lumina sedan, and we love it! [IMG] You just can't boycott everyone, so buy what the Lord allows you to buy and use to His glory. It's all about Him anyway! [IMG]

I can boycott anyone I feel like boycotting because I choose to honor God with his money and I choose not to arm satan by helping finance a company that SELLS PORN!

It saddens me to see such a nieve attitude among so many Christians today...Why reward the executives of GM when they deliberately choose to allow one of thier subsidiaries to flood this nation with porn???

Is it any wonder why so many young girls are getting kidnapped and raped these days? Could it be that PORN feeds and creates the sex addictions of so many men in America?

WHY WOULD YOU HELP FINANCE THAT?!?!?!?!

WAKE UP!

If you view God's Word through worldy eyes it is full of ridiculous extremes! Try them sometime!

1 Thes 4:11-12
11Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Also, I drive a 95 Ford escort and that little car is nothing but a champ....I've had it for 2 years, put close to 50,000 miles on it, and it hasn't given me hardly any trouble at all...My next car will likely be a late model Ford Escort....They're tough little cars!

Hmmmm - avoid tainted products, huh? Seems to me there was a biblical issue like that - something about eating meat that came from animals used for pagan temple rites. Now what was it Paul said to do about that?

Big big difference...let's not compare apples and oranges...

Financing a company that sells porn is rediculous any way you look at it. Is buying a GM car a sin? Of course not...is it benefitting anyone in society? Not at all.

1 Corinthians 10:23-24
"Everything is permissible"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is constructive. 24Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.

Is buying a GM car going to benefit someone in society? Of course it will. You are benefiting the industrial owners who are out to, let's face it, exploit the society we live in, in order to make the biggest profit margian possible. The fact is, that is the crazy world we live in. But, we have to deal with that just like missionaries deal with the culture of the closed countries they live in. They will likely by buying food or giving medical help, in some way aid a communist or Islamic country, but at the same time, they are spreading the gospel.

I myself use Geocities (by Yahoo) for my website because I can't afford a paid site and I don't like any of the Christian freebies out there. Now you can get links to porn through other Geocities sites, and can also find Satanic websites. But the point it hopefully someone who is searching religion on Geocities will not only find the Satanic sites, but will run across the my site sharing the gospel message.

WAKE UP![/QB]</font>
I'm WIDE AWAKE...and I didn't say you couldn't boycott GM. (Boy, where did you learn to read?)
I said "You can't boycott everyone". I get things from the AFA almost every single day about wanting a boycott on this, or a boycott on that. If I boycotted just half of the things they wanted to boycott, I wouldn't have food on the table, I wouldn't be driving a car, I wouldn't be able to watch sports. In todays world, everything is so interconnected, almost everything you do is supporting some kind of sin.

Do you shop in a grocery store that sells alcohol or cigarettes, or products from companies that support porn? Do you have cable or satellite TV? Do you know who they support? Have you looked at their list of donations for the last year, five years, or ten years? Probably not. When you buy gasoline, did you know you are supporting an ungodly system of beliefs? I mean, get real...where do we draw the line?????

Good Question, where do we draw the line? Not knowing where to draw it doesn't mean we shouldn't. It needs to be drawn somewhere. I think its wise to choose our battle carefeully. For me, its a matter of what company does the most damage to our world. There's an old saying that to make a chain strong, you remove the weakest link and make it your strongest. Then go on to the next one. In other words, you eliminate the greatest problems first. Thats how I draw the line.
As for grocery stores, It's tough to get around not supporting them. Groceries are too essential. If I had one that didn't sell booze, I'd shop there instead.
Cable TV - I cancelled it about 10 days ago. It did nothing but rob me of precious time. Time-Warner is high on my list of sinful, sinful companies. They are a major polluter of society and Christian lives, so much I would even classify them as a tool of Satan. I do not have satellite either.
GM happens to another such tool. Through its DirecTV subsidiary, GM has 8.7 million Americans buying some US$200 million a year in pay-per-view sex films from satellite. I have another choice in cars - FORD!
Sports - I'm not into them much. I've got much bigger fish to fry. I want to change the world, not be entertained by it constantly.

</font>
You've got the right attitude towards it. I still use compuserve (a subsidiary of AOL Time Warner), but have been trying Juno out. So far Juno is ok, but doesn't give me the extra's necessary that Compuserve does. I don't like supporting AOL Time Warner at all. Finding a grocery store here that carries edible food that doesn't carry alcohol is an impossibility. We have a Save-A-Lot, but the food there is not even close to edible...mostly generics that are old, out of date, damaged, etc.
As I stated before, we've got to look at what options the Lord has allowed to be in front of us and use what ones will help us best in ministering for him, even if it does come from a company that supports things we don't like. Every time we pay a tax dollar we are paying for things that are against our consciences.
