Authorities reach "startling" conclusion: No known Newtown motive

    What did they expect to find? That he had a vendetta against small children? That he was getting even with his mother for maltreatment as a child? Or assuaging anger stemming from ill treatment by a bad teacher?

    Mentally ill individuals have no contact with reality. They don't think like "normal" people do. We can seek answers to "why" questions in incidents like Newtown for the rest of time, but if the key factor is a mentally unbalanced person, that seeking will most likely be frustrated. He did it because he was mentally ill, and that is all we can ever know for sure.
