Yes, it was a lame attempt at humor.

Pretty much anything Bachmann says bothers me of late. Understand that I live in Minnesota so I've been an observer of hers for years. The big problem I have with her is that she hasn't fulfilled her duties as a U.S. congressperson. There is nothing in her legislative record. She is an ineffective representative for her home district.

How many times in the debates or on the campaign trail have you heard her say:

    "I'm a tax lawyer."
"I'm a small business owner. My husband and I started a small business.'
"I've raised 28 kids, 5 biological, and 23 foster children."
"I've been a voice opposed to Obamacare since day 1."
"I opposed TARP and advocated reducing spending."
"I've consistently stood up to Obama."

OK, how about detailing your legislative accomplishments? What, nothing to say, BECAUSE THERE ARE NONE!

She very well may have, and I'll give her the benefit of assuming that she was. What gets me is that she should have known that, in an arena such as a national-level debate, everything she says would be scrutinized. Even jokes can be spun (by media, opponents) into serious statements. True that it made a notable soundbyte, but it played to the notion that she's an overreligious goof.

I would say that it was meant as a joke----a "play on words"

But how many times has the liberal media taken some play on words and esculate it to touch the gates of hell??????????????

And listeners listen to whats being played by the media from the gates of hell!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems that many like to hop on the hate Bachmann bandwagon. What she said made sense, then she made a joke in the end.

No, it's not "cringeworthy" unless there is already a bias against her to begin with.

When I read the quote in context I chuckled. I disagree with her assessment but I give her an "A" for wit.
