This is a controversial topic, and depending on the state you live in, you may see laws that allow same gender marriage. So, I wanted to know what you feel about this.

This data and info (your comments) will be used along with the topic/subject: Views on Homosexuality.

I have found believers that are emphatically against same gender marriage, but, approve of civil unions. This info will be helpful in better understanding the stand of the church and what is seen as politically correct in the church.

Thanks for your response to the poll, and any additional comments,

    Pastor Paul :type:

I have no problems with gay marriage, all couples should be happy together.

However, I am totally opposed to homosexual "marriage" as it is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord.

PS seems as though RD2 has fallen victim to L.E.F.T.

There are probably some very nice individuals out there who would give you the shirt off their backs if you needed it..., but live the homosexual life style. These individuals are probably very confused and perplexed over their desires and have simply given in to it rather than trying to resist. The sexual urge is very powerful.

Homosexuality has been around since the beginning. A very confusing issue to say the least but is a sin never-the-less as per The Word. Interesting also is that it isn't one of the Ten Commandments.

Heterosexual partners refrain from exploiting their sexuality in public whereas homosexuals often do. Their life style defines them a homosexuals. It certainly isn't "gay" but I think a very disturbing part of their lives that leaves them feeling empty and lonely inside. This is a shame.

Should they get married? In my opinion, no. The definition of marriage has already been put in stone. Should they live together? They are going to no matter what. They seek benefits afforded to heterosexuals. What's the answer?

I just wish they would mind their own business and not try to force their way onto those of us who aren't interested. I've been propositioned 3 times in my life and each was unwanted. I've been married for 45 years and not interested in a man.

Anyway you turn with this issue it becomes more contrary. The Lord will ultimately sort things out and put an end to it one day.

In Canada, we were faced with the law accepting same-gender marriages. Ministers are licensed by each province and we are in essence civil servants.

A group of ministers decided to take some action and we compromised with the government. We would go along with same gender unions, but not marriages, and we would not be forced to conduct such unions.

The law was written this way, so same sex unions are legal, but not marriages, and we are not to be forced to marry anyone not of our choosing.

    Cheers,

    Jim

It seems like this group of ministers respect man more than they respect God.

Jim, what would happen if you refused to preform a same-gender union?

God created Adam and Eve - not Adam and Steve. It does not matter how anyone tries to redefine it. It is still sin and an abomination to God.

This is one of those divisive kinds of statements that draws a line in the sand between Christians, with one claiming superiority. It's unhelpful and judgmental in tone.

There is nothing about what Jim said that I find erroneous or troubling. If the country allows for gay unions, it's not going to somehow cheapen or degrade all of our marriages. What God has joined together....

I would agree, but does that mean it should not be allowed? I mean, fornication is an abomination, but do we want to make that illegal, as well? And when do we stop? Do we make other world religions illegal? How about gossip or slander?

Just wondering. It seems to me like we get a little too worked up about this issue, as if it was going to make us so uncomfortable that we are prevented from following Christ.

Legislating Christianity is not going to bring people to Christ. We need to remember that.

We need to remember that marriage was created by God and not American society. He stated what marriage is and we are not to change that. Sodomy is a sin and should be called out as such. So is fornication, as you pointed out, and it should be called out as well.

I agree, as long as it is approached with love and not thinly veiled judgment.

But legislation is not going to change people's hearts. It won't even change their actions.

Civil unions are one of those "nuances" liberals live so much. One is no different from the other both are completely sinful. And so is supporting them.

I merely stated what I believe to have happened when the ministers compromised and I stand by that statement. It was not divisive. I even wrote slow and meaningful.(that was divisive)
If you think, there was nothing erroneous or troubling about their compromise then I would suggest that you read the Bible and then honestly make that statement.

I'm not trying to change people's hearts. I'm trying to honor God and call sin what it is.

I truly believe that allowing gay unions absolutely degrades marriage. Marriage was constituted by God as a picture of the lifelong commitment between a male and female as a picture of the relationship between Christ and the Church. If Satan can distort that picture, then when we read scripture decribing our relationship with Christ as such, we can not get the concept that the scripture is communicating. Gay unions are just another distortion in the same form as divorce, poor fathers, poor mothers, and other attacks on the family. Many in the church just don't see it.

    Jim,

This is what happens when ministers are liscenced by the state.

If a minister wants to serve God freely, then they should renounce and nullify their liscence with the province.

Surely your not suggesting that God brings homosexual/sodomite unions together?

I agree John. At what point in any nation do the true ministers of the Gospel reject the state's liscensure when things like this come up?
