Joseph I am afraid most of them are without power and have no way to check in...but I sure hope they do. I have been praying for them.

This is true. I am hoping the Mods will make this a sticky and when they can check in, they will see it and respond.

I know where Blackbird and Tater live, they have no power and all the telephone lines are down. I'm sure they'll check in as soon as they can.

However, right now, the BB is probably the last thing on their minds...

I live about 200 miles from New Orleans in the Northern part of the state. We had some power outages with a few trees damaged but mostly wind gusts and a little rain. We are flooded with refugees from the storm.

I tried to call Blackbird and TaterTot again this morning and still received the same message:

"Due to the hurricane damage in this area, your call cannot be completed." :(

The Lord preserved us through another raging tempest. Compared to others we were unscathed. Lost power for 60 hrs. No flooding. Minor tree damage. No building damage.

Anyone reading this: SOS--SOS: there are tens of thousands who need our help: send money to Red Cross, sister churches, collect food and clothing; all other necessities. Area affected: La. Gulf coast s. of N.O. through N.O. north to I-20, east to north of Mobile, Al. south to Mobile Bay.

This is a disaster area. Pitch in--every part counts.
    PASS IT ON!!!

    Selah,

    Bro. James

Sue thanks for the update and keep trying.

Our church is collecting a special love offering this Sunday to go to the relief efforts. I pray that all churches and Christians would be a part in this effort.

I am still getting the same message when I call Tater.

However, when I called Blackbird tonight, the message said, "All circuits are busy, try your call again later".

Dare I hope the phone lines are up and everyone is busy contacting loved ones to let them know they're all right?

I will try again in the morning.

I live in Mobile, and most of the people around here feel for our neighbors in New Orleans and on the Mississippi coast. There was damage around here, people suffered losses, and 25 percent of the county schools were catastrophically damaged, but in comparasion to our neighbors, we have very little to complain about.

In April, my wife and I moved from our trailer into an apartment, about a mile from where I work, so we stayed home during the storm.

Shingles were blown off roofs, three trees in our complex were blown down, and power was out for a day and a half. Power remains out in many places around the county and will be out for some time. My work place still has no power, but the building has no damage.

Mobile is on the bay, but it spreads out over a wide area. Downtown got flooded because of the water that was pushed into the bay and backed into the Mobile River, but farther west, flooding wasn't such a problem because the storm didn't produce a lot of rain as was predicted.

The Mississippi cities like Gulfport, Biloxi, and Pascagoula are basically on the beach, and there is hardly any place in town where folks can hide from a hurricane there. Mobile's closest point to the Gulf may be 15 or 20 miles, as the crow flies, which helps when the big storms blow.

My family and self are all ok. My oldest son, Adam stayed at the apartment with us and will stay until power is back on at his place. My younger son, Josh is in Germany with his National Guard unit. During Ivan's aftermath last year, he worked several weeks helping with relief efforts.

TaterTot and her family are ok. I received an email today that she was able to get to me through a friend. However it maybe be a few weeks before they get their power and phone back. So it will be awhile before she is able to post on the BB. Keep up the prayers. I know that she and her family appreciate it.
