I have NOT seen these papers myself... but our town is in an uproar!

The Blockbuster here in Villa Rica had 'papers' on a rack 8" off the floor with pornographic pictures of 3 naked men, touching, kissing and in bed together. It was located right as you come in the big double doors. Some children picked up the papers and showed them to their parents.

A group is staging a 'membership card cutting' to protest this filth!

You might want to be aware and watch for this filth if you rent movies at Blockbuster. Again, I did not see those papers but saw the fliers and spoke to one man whose friends child was involved.

We do not have Blockbuster, but we have Movie Gallery. Do you think maybe this is an isolated problem. Only happening at your store. Perhaps planted there as a viscious prank by a customer, or is it something that Blockbuster did?

I have been in every inch of my Movie Gallery, and honestly there is no place for Porno. All the movies and games are out in the open. There are no back rooms. I guess we are lucky.

According to the flier, they're on the racks with other info on newly released movies and apartments for rent, houses for sale, so the flier said!

Ug.... makes me ill to even consider this happening to a child!

My next door neighbor just went up there and said the rack is empty. Thank the Lord!

Blockbuster in Australia have no problem displaying covers of naked women on their shelves.

They also happily hire out Porno movies that are produced by groups like Playboy etc.

Yet they claim to have no Pornographic tapes?

I dont bother much with Video shops anymore, Cable is better anyway. In some cases you can buy films in Australia from the Supermarket the day they come out to the video store anyway. So you can actually get them on Cable first. I have a feeling video stores are going to do it tough against the internet as technology increases.

We have a little photo shop out here, and as a side business he rents movies. That's where we go. NOTHING pornographic. You can buy the movies off the shelf or rent them, most are between 4 and 7 dollars. More than fair. Hometown business, I MUCH prefer giving them my business over any chain company.

I just cut up my blockbuster card. I'm glad this thread was started. This is something that has concerned me the past few times I've been in there.

The Blockbuster in my neighborhood here in Tampa is almost just as trashy. I've noticed they have a huge amount of sex movies with sleezy covers on them and provocative titles. I'd rather not give them my business anymore.

    Clean up your act blockbuster!

The only thing objectionable at our neighborhood Blockbuster store is the prices. You could buy a D.V.D. at Wal-Mart for what they want to rent one. (only a slight exageration)

They don't have pornography or papers of this type that you reported. If I ever saw anything like that however, it would be more than cutting up my membership card that I would be doing. You better believe it. [IMG]

WOW! Glad we don't have a Blockbusters. And we just buy our DVD's at Wal-Mart too, or we buy them at Movie Gallery.

But I do watch for that stuff, I do not want my kids to see it, and I haven't seen it. I am glad. Because like Wisdom Seeker, It would be more than cutting up a card.

    Gentlemen,

Below is the reason why I just cut up my blockbuster card. I can't help but think your company has a serious conflict of interests. On one hand your website advertises that you help organizations such as the Children's Miracle Network and the Boys & Girls Club of America, but on the other hand you rent some of the trashiest pornographic films out there. Such films do absolutely nothing to benefit society. All they do is cheapen people's view of healthy relationships, mainly the sanctity of marriage. They also serve to harden men's attitudes towards women. When men constantly equate women as being sex objects, its no wonder why so many people in this world fall prey to rapists and pedophiles. Your company along with many others is helping foster the overall degradation of women everywhere. When you realize that some things in this world are more important than money, perhaps you will clean up your act and stop pandering to the lusts of the general public. I urge you to consider this letter with the seriousness it deserves. I will talking with many of my colleagues and associates about this issue. Thank you for your time.

    Chris Lofton

A local newspaper has the info on Blockbuster. The 'papers' in question is a newspaper called 'Southern Voice' which is a gay and lesbian newspaper.

Randy Hargrove, a spokesman for Blockbustre in Dallas, Tx., said the company initially removed the magazine from store racks but reconsidered their decision. "We want to make a variety of publications available to the public," he said.

I'm stumped, because Blockbuster does not sell or rent pornographic videos. That is exactly why I DO have a Blockbuster card. I've never seen any inappropriate displays in my local Blockbusters (there are 4 in my area).

Can someone find verification on this before we say for sure this is happening?
