Both camps limit the Atonement of Christ: 1. The Arminians say that the Atonement was for every person who would have lived and yet some end up in Hell for whom Christ died. In a sense, a limit has been placed on the Atonement of Christ. 2. The Calvinists say that the Atonement for only for the elect and it is for them Christ died and not every person who would have lived. This is properly called particular or definite Atonement.
