And who really cares?

There are GANGS in our OWN cities we ought to be concerned with rather than sensationalizing the problems of other countries.

But you rearely see news about this real and present danger anymore.

Maybe it's because you live in Idaho, (at least according to your profile)? Maybe you don't see news about gangs where you live, I certainly see quite a bit where I live. Beyond that I think it is important to know about the problems in other countries, so I guess you could say I care.

Idaho has the largest population of White Supremacist gangs in the country. He should be seeing news about gangs.

I do not disagree with you. Like I said I hear about gangs and/or gang violence on an almost daily basis. He claimed that there is little or no news on the subject anymore....

We have news about gangs in the papers every day. Gangs of all types. I work with gangs though so maybe I just pay more attention to articals dealing with them.

Maybe Idaho papers are in denial about their gang problems.

Sorry, but your theory does not hold water. While I do try to watch the local news every night, I usually listen to NPR. I have heard news stories on CNN recently that related to US street gangs. At any rate a simple search on three major tv-news sites showed recent stories that mentioned gangs and/or gang violence. I'm sure there are more stories in the NY Times, Washington Post, USA Today, etc., I just don't have time to conduct mindless searches. Like I said I see/read/hear stories of US gangs everyday, and on a consistent basis from "national/worldwide" sources.

I dont know what makes it into your news papers but Idaho's WS gangs are an issue and one that is discussed.

Maurice Canfield said the Pocatello police are constantly on the lookout for early warning signs......................Blackfoot Police School Resource Officer Greg Austin said a California-based gang with about 60 members is currently active in the city. Dress codes banning gang related insignia, colors and art is in place to deter gang activity in the school, Austin said................Bingham County Corp. Dave Johnson has seen a rise in gang related crime in his county, especially areas lying within the reservation.
