Deleted per Pastor Larry's objection...(I thought a rock and roll artist alleging to be antichrist was a good theological issue but it's not a topic I desire to offend someone over).

Why even post this? This should have been left unsaid. No one needs to know about this.

And just why do you decide what news we discuss and what news we do not?

I don't decide. He didn't have to delete it for me. This was a story on the order of the Anna Nicole Smith tragedy. It had no news value and no noteworthy contribution to greater godliness. The constant parade of human depravity has no redeeming merit, but appeals to base senses of our own human nature. The Bible says that there are certain things that should not even be mentioned among believers.

The fact that these things are even interesting is a testimony to the base and sinful desires of humanity. It is a symptom of what is wrong with our culture. People who make no positive contribution to society are honored and their demise is treated as a national tragedy. It shows our warped values.

This is a requirement for the news and current events forum..."contributioin to godliness"?

Just about every topic in here has no "redeeming merit", and is a parade of human depravity. We are humans, after all.

I prayed for her. I would not have thought to do so if not for the OP. We tend to think of these people as spoiled little brats trying to get attention. If the OP is true, it sounds more like she is in a very bad place and is crying out for help. Now I care, before I did not.

It'll be all over the news for a week or two. No need to help it here.

This is the "News / Current Events" thread, which I believe means, News and Current Events threads go here. Britney saying she's antichrist and painting 666 on her head qualifies as news and has add'l significance of being a Biblically related story (though Biblically related nor "godliness" is listed as a requirement for this forum as described here ). Having said that, there is no way I want to get in a debate defending a Britney story, I loathe her character, though I weep for her soul. If the story offends folks then I don't want to fight over this one and would ask a moderator to close it.

    [Edit: corrected typo]

I prayed for her before bed last night. Funny thing is, I dreamt that she showed up at my work (bald head and all), and I was able to witness to her, and share with her the ultimate source of happiness. I just pray that someone does get this opportunity...maybe even someone here!

Maybe some folks grew up in church, got saved at a very young age, and never experienced how dark and hopeless life can become when you get caught up in the things of the world. I would hope people could think of her as they would any other disturbed young woman. Have some compassion, people, for crying out loud. Of course her celebrity does not make her more valuable than anyone else, but neither does it make her less valuable.

A requirement for the news and current events would seem to be something that is newsworthy and current. This is not newsworthy in any sense.

A requirement for a Christian board would be Christian topics. Eph 5 is clear that some things should not even be talked about. This seems to be one of them.

And you are right, many topics here are not worthy of discussion or consideration.

Your definition of "newsworthy" seems to be different from most dictionary definitions...

Number of "News" organizations that found the Britney rehab issue to be "newsworthy" according to a Google news search = 110.

What dictionary are you using to determine what is or is not "newsworthy"? The only sense that it is not "newsworthy" would appear to be your subjective sense.

That requirement is unstated in the forum requirement for "News / Current events". However, you have an American Idol in rehab painting 666 on her forehead and saying she is the antichrist. How much more of a Christian connection do you require for this to be a Christian topic? If Al Gore declared himself to be Mother Gaia would you say oh let's not talk about that because of Ephesians 5? Btw...there is nothing that goes on in this world that doesn't have something to do with God or the adversary.

You are a moderator here, if this topic is so offensive to you, will you please close the thread or ask a moderator that has authority over this area to do so?

Britney Spears is most likely having a Holy Spirit attack. I believe she is saved, but in serious need of discipleship. Christ is waiting for her to cry out, and when she does he WILL leave the ninety and nine to get her.

But she is bringing shame and disgrace to her ministry. It's obvious to me that the world sees her as a fallen Christian.
