We are all at different levels in our growth and understanding, as Christians.

And maybe President Bush isn't that knowledgable of the Muslims' faith.

Yeah, maybe. And maybe I'll pitch for the Phillies next season.

Doom and gloom? I wasn't thinking of that. I just don't buy the defenses that I've heard of Bush's comments. So, I said so.

I am still amazed at the depths folks will go to to make excuses for a wrong statement. He was flat out wrong - as President he should know more about Islam . There is no excusing this comment.

And pizza - perfection is not required to see error.

Yeah, well I think as Christians we should be a little more accepting of others' imperfections....and FOCUS more on our own....for we all have MANY!

There was but ONE perfect ONE....and He teaches us acceptance!

Then we should have been more willing to accept Senator Kerry and his imperfections.

Like the plumber who burned the house down: "Hey, nobody's perfect".

Do we forgive the fact that he agrees with lawful homosexual civil unions as well?

    Oh well, nobody is perfect.

I think forgiveness comes cheaper for Republican than Democrats in evangelical circles.

If Kerry had won the election I would have accepted that like a Christian should.
And I would have prayed for him just as I pray for President Bush and our country.

It's the right thing to do!

POWER is in prayer NOT in criticism!

That is most certainly not what I said. Read my post again. You are insisting, as do others on this board, that every person who ever makes a faith statement, especially George W. Bush, believe and say precisely and only those things which you yourself believe.

My point continues to be that faith is a journey, and as such not everyone is as theologically pure as you and others pride yourself in being. This is not, however, to say that not now is the same as ever. Given prayer and opportunity, even the President can grow in his faith.

Not only are your cheap shots getting cheaper, Jim, they're getting even more cryptic.

This is was totally unnecessary cheap shot - you have never heard me make any claim about my level of spirituality.

Please, keep to the issue and stop with the personal snipes.

The issue at hand is rejoicing over President Bush's election, I rejoice that God's will has been done, that does not mean that I have to see my president as being flawless.

I wonder what the response would be if Senator Kerry said "Catholics, evangelicals, and muslims are all going to heaven, athough we all follow our own roads."?

Okay - I acknowledge the content of your post - nobody is perfect.

Does that mean that we should not be critical of anyone, ever?

Critical as in "what an idiot, he's obviously a heretic," or critical as in, "gee, I wish he hadn't said that, here's the correct information and let's pray for our leaders"?

I think the second is the type criticism I have made over and over again.

I have NEVER called the president an idiot or a heretic, or any other name.

So with that logic, pizza, when President Clinton lied about his affair with Ms Lewinski, we should have said, "Hey,I wish he hadn't said that, here's the correct information and let's pray for our leaders"?
