The cross-check found listings for 35,570 North Carolina voters whose first names, last names and dates of birth match those of voters who voted in other states. However, in those cases middle names and Social Security numbers were not matched.

    Neither did you.

Elections Director Kim Strach told the oversight committee, "Could it be voter fraud? Sure, it could be voter fraud. Could it be an error on the part of a precinct person choosing the wrong person's name in the first place? It could be. We're looking at each of these individual cases."
    ===

Also, 40-50 votes from supposedly dead people in a state of 10 million people--is that a huge problem?

I didn't tell any of it. I posted the link, expecting people to read it.

It's a pretty good unbiased article, but you chose to leave out some pertinent information.

Why? Because there's plenty of smoke there for a fire.

    300 in 20 years?

"Where there's smoke, there's fire." "There's a smell of voter fraud."

You would not make a very good witness in a court case.

Here's what happened in North Carolina.

    * 35,000+ people in NC had had the same name and same birthday as 35,000+ voters in another of the 49 states. That is absolutely a very likely event.

    * 765 people had the same name, same birthday and same last four digits of their SSN# as voters in another of the 49 states. This is a bit less likely as the first scenario, but within the realm of probability. Now throw in clerical errors and you can decrease the number to a less than 765 people.

In a case on South Carolina, it was alleged that 900 dead people had voted in 2010. The SC attorney general looked into 200 of these 900 cases and half of them were the result of clerical error. Others were people with the same name as one of their deceased parents. http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/metro/2013-07-06/no-widespread-voter-fraud-found-sc-elections

Similar cases came up in Ohio http://www.wksu.org/news/story/38295 Iowa http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/2013/12/16/voterfraud/4037057/ and Florida http://www.tampabay.com/opinion/editorials/editorial-phantom-voter-fraud-in-florida/2140444

In any event, please explain to me how a photo ID would have stopped any of these 765 people in North Carolina from voting?

    Nothing like denial.

First there's 300 cases in 20 years. Faced with the fact that there are hundreds just in one state in the last election, you quibble that , well, that's not so many.

Fact is no matter how many thousands of cases turn up, it won't be enough to satisfy you.

    Yep. Nothing like denial.

All that is in place in Indiana and I imagine that Minnesota is richer than Indiana and has all that in place.

Personally, I think there is a lot of fraud among the rich who have many homes. The penalty for fraud is non-existent. Even in Indianapolis, it is impossible to have a clean election because the GOP cannot find enough volunteers to go into the Democrat precincts to monitor them for honesty. American big cities are all going the way of Detroit.

These were absentee ballots. I wonder how many false ballots they submitted? Anyway, photo ID would not have stopped this. And, three women. Three.

One woman voted twice--once by absentee ballot and once by voting in person at the polls. She was a poll worker and had listed next to her name on the voter rolls, "absentee". Then she went ahead and voted at the poll place that she was monitoring. Photo ID would not have stopped this from happening.

These were mail-in absentee ballots. Photo ID would not have stopped this.

Again, these were absentee ballots. These absentee ballots were never cast, so there was no actual voting fraud. Photo ID would not have stopped this from happening.

You have found eight people that were tampering with the voting system on a small scale in local elections. Photo ID would not have prevented these people from succeeding, but they were caught with methods already in place.

What else ya got? Anything besides a gut feeling?

You never did answer how photo ID would have stopped the 765 votes by same-named people across many different states. Care to answer that now?

This is called vote buying. Photo ID voting laws would not have stopped this.

This is one of the cases that I already knew about.

Well, this is interesting. Someone voted under Legacki's name in New Hampshire in 2012, even though Legacki was living in St. Louis, MO at the time. Why is it interesting? Because New Hampshire had photo ID laws in place! So photo ID did not stop this ONE vote from being fraudulently recorded. And that is all that photo ID laws could actually prevent. One voter attempting to vote under another person's name.

Photo ID laws will not prevent absentee ballot fraud, in fact, it would likely increase this sort of fraud. It would not stop vote-buying, voting by coercion, ballot box stuffing, poll worker fraud, etc. Photo ID laws could only stop a single vote from being cast, per each incident attempted. One vote. Is that an efficient way to steal an election?

Yes, and the poll workers stopped them. So there was no actual voter fraud.

According to a Board of Elections poll worker and another poll watcher, groups of young Hasidic men attempted to enter the polling station at IS 71 and vote under the names of other citizens who have yet to vote. "They're signing signatures, but the ID they show doesn't match the signature on the forms. Yes, there's been some illegal stuff going on," BOE poll worker Antoinette Reaves said. An NYPD officer standing outside IS 71 told us he had witnessed four men attempting to vote under the wrong name in the two hours he had been posted there. While some of the attempts were made by men who looked to be of voting age, others struck poll workers as obviously fraudulent. "They're fourteen, fifteen years old, walking in here with a crowd of people. We stopped them and asked for ID—we know they're too young to go in there. They've been trying it all day," Reaves said.

Seriously, you've got nothing. Just admit it. Or you can take a look at this:

I’ve been tracking allegations of fraud for years now, including the fraud ID laws are designed to stop. In 2008, when the Supreme Court weighed in on voter ID, I looked at every single allegation put before the Court. And since then, I’ve been following reports wherever they crop up. To be clear, I’m not just talking about prosecutions. I track any specific, credible allegation that someone may have pretended to be someone else at the polls, in any way that an ID law could fix.

So far, I’ve found about 31 different incidents (some of which involve multiple ballots) since 2000, anywhere in the country. If you want to check my work, you can read a comprehensive list of the incidents below.

Having to have a photo id to vote is a no brainer. There is no logical reason to oppose it except to allow those who are not qualified to vote.

    <Sigh> Here we go again....

There is no reason to HAVE voter ID because:

    1. The constitution of the United States does not require a photo ID to vote.

    2. There is no crisis of voter fraud occurring. There are scant examples of it happening. There are policies and procedures in place that already prevent the type of voter fraud that photo ID would prevent. Actual voter fraud, the type that could be prevented by voter photo ID laws can only prevent ONE person from voting for ONE other person.

    3. There are millions of elderly people that don't have a driver's license (they quit driving) and would need to get a photo ID in order to vote. That could be a burden and a hassle. Currently They ARE qualified to vote--they can simply go to the polling place and vote, like they've done their entire life.

    4. People that have recently moved and want to vote would need to get a photo ID before voting. Currently they ARE qualified to vote and can vote by bringing a utility bill showing their name and address on it, or they can have a neighbor vouch for them.

    5. College students attending college away from home would need to fly or drive back to their home address to vote. This means getting there before election day, which is on a Tuesday, meaning they would miss classes to vote.

Basically, requiring a photo ID to vote to cause hassles for millions of people from voting in the manner that they are accustomed to vote. Is that what we want? Less people voting?

This was not voter fraud. This was the forging of signatures on a petition meant to get Obama on a primary ballot. Photo ID would not have stopped this.

Yeah... you already tried this one. The case was about fake signatures on a ballot petition. Not voter fraud. Photo ID would not have stopped this.

These involve fake signatures on petitions, absentee ballots, falsifying voter registration forms. Photo ID would not have stopped this.

"District 4 Election Commissioner Carl Payne reported an incident in which "a father cast an absentee ballot, the son voted in person and then the son changes clothes and returned to vote as his father. We learned of this from a written statement from the poll manager." Among other cases reported by Payne (who was defeated Nov. 6 by Sissie Ferguson): A voter came to cast a ballot, gave a name that was on the poll book, signed the receipt book and was allowed to vote. Another person using the same name came to vote later that day, "and was informed he'd already voted. The second person provided proof of identity," Payne reported.
