18 different nations begin with the letter "C". What do you know about each?

Fun, multiple-guess answers, so please give it a shot!

Meant to remind all that 17 of these questions are straightforward and will just test your knowledge of trivia about these nations.

ONE, however, is a definite "trick" question.

Why mention it? All five who've taken the quiz have gotten it wrong.

And no, I'm not going to tell you which one!!

Any more risk takers? Will post the answers in a day or so, but since it takes so long to make a quiz, thought more might try it first!

The 'Cypress' (sic) question is trick, n'est-pas? For a start, it's a tree not a country. The island of Cyprus however is theoretically one independent state; in practice however since 1974 it has been partitioned between the Greek-speaking south and the Turkish-speaking north of the island. It is incorrect however to talk of it being 'controlled' by either Greece or Turkey. But the question did not permit that so I either answered Greece or Turkey, can't remember which I put.

Oh well, enough from Pedant's Corner ;) (Do I at least win the prize for using the most 'howevers' in one post, Dr Bob?)

However, with all that dancing around, Cyprus IS an independent nation as well as an island.

Republic of Cyprus, April 16, 1960. Later civil war in 1983 led to a new nation "_____ Republic of Northern Cyprus" being formed. THAT is the nation we're looking for.
