This meeting of the BB is called to order. I propose that the moderators ban all Calvinist-free will debates regardless of the title of the thread or whether they evolve into such, for a period of one year. Do I hear a second?

Why ? I think what is needed instead is to set rules, and enforce them.
One way or the other, each side is going to say something that reflect their soteriological position, and the other side will react, and that puts a thread in the precarious position of being closed early.

I would suggest a permanent separate thread for the C/A debates. That way there is a place for the discussions without it getting into other debates. :)

We used to have that, remember ?
Then it was shut down for some reason, maybe because of the insults and insinuations that were being thrown around.

That must have been before I joined the BB. Oh well, it seemed like a good idea, but if it's already been tried, nevermind. You would think we could all learn to play nice!:tongue3:

I hope this doesn't happen. I think we all can learn to debate in a spirit of Christ. We all can agree to disagree.

I admit that we all become edgy at times. But who doesn't? Your call to order is hereby rescinded by me. I am sorry, but I am not a moderator.

It is a good idea, sis.

I would also suggest a hyper-Calvinist/Calvinist forum. I am most always classified hyper. That way I might be able to bring "peace" one way or the other between the Calvinists/Arminians with them having somebody else to vent their frustrations on.

Besides, we are all brethren in the Lord. I am a Calvinist, but I never once question the salvation of my Arminian brothers and sisters.

Let's have reasonable and friendly discussions, without becoming ugly. I am proud to say that myself and others, including an Arminian are blogging a book together.

We fellowship all the time. Heaven is open wide for both. See you up there, my Arminian brethren in Christ!

Neither do I remember a seperate section, but it is going to evoke emotion where ever it is placed. The purposes of God are what they are, and eternal flapping of jaws is not going to change that. One can look at the titles of various threads and almost immediately say, "yep, another one."

I feel very strongly a certain way (pretty much like TC Greek), and all the talking in the world is not going to change my mind. It is hard to understand why this issue causes such great emotion or length. Lets put that effort into salvation affecting issues.

Now that's an idea! We'll all use you as our punching bag!

Or mabey we should do this to ourselves and not inflict pain on our brethren!

There did use to be a separate section for C/A debates.

And it was closed because it got VERY ugly. But not nearly as ugly as some of the debates on the FFF. (Ha!)

Are there too many debates on C/A on this thread and the theology thread. Probably. But, I started one today, so I'm not going to complain. Everything I have seen lately has been pretty civil. If the boys are playing nice, leave 'em alone.

Better yet, why aren't all C/A debates moved to the theology section...and leave the General section free from the C/A debate? There are numerous threads on each forum that could be consolidated to one.

I have a fascination with the C/A threads. I don't contribute very much to them any more for a couple of reasons. One, I've said what I think and I hate covering the same ground over and over again to the same people who've covered the same ground over and over again. Two, there are a bunch of other BB folks who do it so much better than I can.

But whenever one opens up, I have to read the whole thread and follow it until it dies.

Occasionally one will plow some different ground (like the Lydia thread) and I'll chime in, mainly to ask brilliant and incisive questions.

And sometimes, I actually read something that's new to me, which makes me think, "I never thought of that before."

For those reasons, I'd hate to see the C/A debate banned.

Though I have not changed my mind about the issue, reading from others has helped me learn a lot.
I have actually learned an lot more and become a stronger Calvinist since being on here.
    iron does sharpen iron.

If the C/A discussions were to be banned because people actually debate about it, what next?
Why not close the whole board down?

Oh, and we would need to ban the Mac vs PC debates from the computer forum :)

    #1---SHAME! SHAME!!

    #2--I've noticed that too!!

#3--The Referee let Mohommad Ali and "Smokin'" Joe Frasier go how many rounds??? 15, I believe!! The day after the fight---neither was reconizible as who they were in the face---but yes, it was a clean, civil fight!!!!

Agreed. Mods should put all things C/A into the theology debate forum.
