I have not posted in sometime - but yes I do remember the seperate forum for Calvinist Arminian debates. I think its ok to discuss and even rediscuss as there will be new members on the BB all the time who have not formulated a belief on this and it would be good for them to see both sides.

I know it seems sometimes like we have discussed some topics 1000 time over. But I ask the same people on this board, especially those who have been saved many years - is'nt it possible you will hear a sermon that you hear before? Maybe you heard a similar sermon on the radio, and then your Pastor preaches on the same topic the next week.

Lets face it - in the world of our faith, many things can seem repetitious. My sons(9 & 7) seem to always remind me when I read them a Bible story that they have "already heard that one before" and they want to hear something new. But I have told them they need to be reminded of these stories because after a while they will forget.

I agree with the previous posters though, that these discussions must remain civil. And don't try to hijack postings that have nothing to do with the topic you are trying to inject - stay on topic or make your own new topic.

That's why the picture I use for BaptistBoard is very old!

Do the same things get discussed over and over? Sure! There is nothing new under the sun. Do new people come on the board and read the threads and want to participate? Yes. If we ever solve the disagreements we'll stop all of the discussions, save the thread at the top of the heap, and make everybody read it. Until then, this is a discussion board, so please stop trying to limit or end discussion.

Personally, I wish they would restart the separate forum for C/A debates. Before they closed it down I really enjoyed the Theology forum. After they closed it down, the whole thing migrated to the Theology forum and took it over. Count the threads sometime. I think it is ridiculous. Don't you folks know there is a lot more to theology than that?

I have no interest in the C/A issues, and am tired of the insults I got in other threads of the Theology forum by Calvinists even though I did not participate in their discussions! (Some folk used to drag the discussion even into fringe discussions.) So I almost never participate in the Theology forum any more.

What gets me is when some fresh-faced poster joins the BB, starts a C vs. A thread all excited and then gets shot down by a BB veteran with a comment like - "Oh, we've discussed that before..."

I think what would help is if some veterans who know they get overly-excited just stayed out of the thread and let the newbies discuss it all over again.
