*grin* That is very nice of her. It would be terribly embarrassing to snore loudly.

When I was a kid a couple years back :))), there was a woman sitting in front of me with maggots IN HER HAIR...crawling around. That will make my list any day as a pet peeve.

I get annoyed /distracted by young ladies in front of my pew ( I don't have a set pew -- I move around ) who spend several minutes fixing their hair with their arms flapping . It's hard to concentrate on the message . And they are most likely not getting anything out of the sermons also because of their preoccupation .

I don't appreciate the actions of children and young adults who decide to rest their feet on the hymn rack .

I am concerned when parents are not paying attention to their kids' actions . Why bring a child into the service to draw pictures for instance , instead of listening to the message ? Can't mothers and fathers be a bit more pro-active about these matters ? Are they interested in the spiritual welfare of their children ? Why don't they take some time before a service and explain the importance of being in the Lord's House ? Why can't they show their offspring that it demonstrates disrespect to the Lord and His servants when occupied with trivial pursuits on the Lord's Day in His House ?

Cell phones . I do not understand why people are so careless about the devices in the Lord's House . It is really galling , especially when they let it "ring" ( or whatever you want to call it now ) for A LONG TIME .

I have already started another thread on gum-chewing .

Well , the afore-mentioned should be enough to round-up the opposition .

We let our girls draw pictures of what their daddy is preaching about. It keeps them quiet, and they can always tell us what the sermon was about. Sometimes I think they get more out of it than some of the grown ups who just sit still and daydream about other things.

It's no different than we, as adults, taking notes to help us remember the lesson.

By the way, the best way NOT to be distracted in church is to stop being a "back row Baptist" and start sitting up front where you can't see anything but the speaker. Our back pews are always filled to capacity, as if people are scared to get too close to the message or something.

Say something Amen worthy once in a while and you don't have to go fishing for 'em.

Having to finish within a specified time is more of a pet peeev for me.

It does bother me when a preacher keeps asking for an amen, but I find it much worse to be screamed at while in church. I understand preachers getting fired up occasionally, but if they scream non-stop and hurt my ears, I don't go back for more. Only the deaf or hard of hearing need all that extra volume. Same thing goes for singers, too.
