We just had our annual church picnic this past Sunday afternoon. Is this common? Does your church have an annual picnic?

We don't have an annual picnic but we have an annual dinner next month. It's actually our business meeting but we do a big shindig - the ONLY potluck we do for the whole church. It's usually 600-650 people. It's a wonderful time!

That's the two months I-81 is decorated with orange barrels and yellow trucks...

We have an annual shindig but usually wait until the snow is gone. There's about 3 feet of snow pack which makes for good snowmobiling but a lousy BBQ. Third Sunday in August.

Our church seems to have an annual founders day picnic, that is pot luck. Since we've been there the only other church wide pot luck we've had was thanksgiving. But we have weekly wed night dinners, in the summer it's a grill out with eating outside.

I've never been in a church that had picknicks. Baptists do like potlucks though.

I didn't realize that having a church picnic was such an exception. We have one every year -- usually in February when the weather is beautiful. It is held right after the 11:00 service at the Christian high school down the street from the church. [It would be impossible to have this on the church grounds.]

The BBQ is catered (small fee) and everyone brings either a salad or a dessert. Afterwards, we have full use of the facilities -- gym, athletic fields, etc. and kids (and kids wannabees) stay and play together. It's a great time for old & young (and in between). Highly recommend this if you don't currently do this.

Not an exception here, just about every church here has an annual church picnic, our last church has been having them annually for more then 100 years. Most churches have a picnic area on the frounds, tables, play area, most even have grills, or something simialr.(I've seen pits, and one used a hugh barrel grill to roast a whole pig, it was good too.)
