We have power lines, trees and branches down all over town.

    Stay safe and warm, Gwyneth!

Good morning everyone! I'm just about to get off the computer and go up to church for the whole day. Today is our first Christmas Drama - shows are at 3 and 7. I will man the "Welcome Center" to greet people, give out information and direct them to where they need to go. Please pray that this play touches hearts for God. It's got a great story and it's a wonderful production (it's a musical called A Smoky Mountain Christmas - The Homecoming). One of the leads is a wonderful lady who has a beautiful voice (she's done a CD) and she's from the south so this has helped her lose any of the NY accent she's had from living here for over 20 years. LOL - at our small group on Friday, we were talking about Santa Clause and she said "Santy Claouz" VERY southern. LOL!!

So, I'll try to hop on later - if you could also pray for me because I fell yesterday at the bowling alley (think Home Alone kind of falling with my feet slipping out from under me and me landing on my bum and hands). I hurt my lower back and my entire right arm and shoulder is painful. The carpal tunnel that has been getting a bit better is now very much worse so I may be heading to surgery sooner than I thought (and I JUST talked to my surgeon Friday night at small group about it and he had said not to put it off). My whole arm was numb this morning so that's not a good sign. :( So, I'd appreciate your prayers that nothing else is seriously hurt. I think I'm just sore at this point - we'll see in a few days.

    Ann

    Good Morning Everybody,

It's about 30 degrees here, with big snowflakes coming down, but we're not supposed to get any accumulation. We missed the storm Friday night. Everything went North of us. All we got was a dusting.

No Church for us this morning. I went out to start the car and warm it up, but it wouldn't turn over. I think it's the alternator, so that'll have to be tested, and maybe replaced.

Sorry to hear about your fall Ann. I would imagine you jarred everything pretty good, including the Carpal-Tunnel. I know it's impossible for a busy person to "take it easy." But I'm praying that your wounds will heal, and your Carpal Tunnel isn't seriously aggravated.

I've got everything in the crockpot for Beef Stroganoff, I'll throw together a salad, and Caramel Bananas for dessert. Dinner will be about 4:30pm.

Time to go check the alternator. I'll try to check in later.

We're doing pretty well around here.
The creature suffering the most is the dog who has to go out every once in a while. A rat terrier in drifts a couple of feet high. We shoveled a path for him but he is more and more confused these days and seems to have trouble finding the path. So he sinks down, leaps, sinks down, leaps. He gave up trying to hop around the yard.

We had over a foot of snow on top of a lot of ice. Lots of people here had power off for a short while, but we personally never did.
Up in the mid thirties today with the sun shining.
However, most churches here were cancelled this morning. So much snow in the parking lots on top of ice could not be dealt with in time.

So today we will have another fire in the fireplace.

We were in one of the hardest hit areas in OK. The OKC area where my oldest attends OU had somewhat less trouble and snow.

Karen, maybe you will have to install one of those red flags they have for snowmobiles.

There was church today and the parking lot had been cleared, but one of the church buses landed in a ditch on the way to church - packed full of kids. SUV's were dispatched to pick up the kids and bring them to church.

They brought them home too because the bus is still in the ditch.

PTL! No one was hurt and I doubt the bus sustained much damage. Brent was on it and he didn't think it was damaged at all - just stuck.

    Good evening everyone!

My what a busy day! I didn't sit down (or eat) from 8 this morning until just a few minutes ago. Between church, flooring, house cleaning for company, choir practice, church + Jenna's baptism and company, there hasn't been time for sitting. It has been a blessed day, though. Mark it on your calandar, my husband was in church tonight! He actually enjoyed the service. It is amazing what our Lord can accomplish that we can't.

I think I may just be headed for bed. Tomorry will be another busy day.

Sue, glad to hear your power didn't stay off long. Karen good to know that yours didn't go off. I hate being without electricity!

Gwyneth, take care during those storms. It this "normal" winter weather for you?

Rob, thanks for supper. Best thing about a crockpot is that the food can stay warm for a lonnnnnggg time.

Jim, you're so silly. (red flag, )

    Night all!

    Hello everyone,

We are experiencing the yucky weather now. It was cold (low 50s) and misty all day. Expecting a low of 28 Tuesday morning.
[For those that don't know, we're in South Georgia about 15 to 20 miles from Florida. So 50 is at the least very cool.]

We're all doing well. I will have another blood test and a Bone Scan on Dec. 12.

    Good morning all,

Gayla: 50 may be cold for you, but it would be WONDERFUL for ME! It is 8º here this morning and it's not going to get UP to the freezing point until this weekend!!!

I was going to make fudge today BUT I'm out of evaporated milk. Ack! I don't even want to go outside. My tires are probably iced to the road. With gasoline prices so high, I refuse to let my car run for 30 minutes to warm it up and get rid of the ice...

I guess I'll make peanut butter balls instead. That will keep Brent busy too. He does the rolling and dipping.

Coffee is brewing and tea is steeping. Have a cuppa!

    Good morning everyone!

Gayla, I'll take your 50 degrees too! Woke up to 27 this morning. We're supposed to have our town's Christmas parade and the karate school is supposed to take part. Somehow, walking a mile along the parade route just doesn't appeal to me this morning.

I've been enjoying leftover doughnuts from last night's coffee, but I think I need something more substantial before I head to the sewing machine. And I need to turn the gas logs back on. The house is cool this morning, but I still haven't had to turn on the heat!

    Be back later.

Howdy everyone! We are into the deep freeze in Ontario. Is there an anti-freeze made for keyboards?

Maybe this freeze will save us in January and we will truly experience the January thaw.

To-day is coooold, and we can even see a few flakes of snow falling. Coffee break lasts all day now.

    Cheers,

    Jim

PS. It really ain't cold until my beard has frost.

Hey! Who sent snow flurries our way?? That was fun!! It's chilly here - now into the 40s during the day and below freezing at night and it finally feels like it's almost winter.

There will be no riding for me today - Whirl has some kind of boil or infection right where the girth goes and it's going to take atleast a week to get better. This is NOT good since I'm going to have to take off a whole month in January because I am going to have carpel tunnel surgery done (decided this weekend to definately do it). Oh well - he's a good boy and he still should do OK for the shows in the spring.

So, today is going to be a day of laundry and homeschool. I have to run out this afternoon to pick up a gift for a friend who's leaving on Thursday to pick up her new daughter from China (we have a shower for her tonight) and also a gift for a friend's 40th birthday party (I'm thinking some pretty candles) tomorrow night. The shower is tonight so I'll make a quick dinner (not sure what that will be yet) and leave around 6:30 to drop the girls off at church then head on over to the shower.

Oh - the Christmas play was good last night - not my favorite but it was cute with a good message. Last year's was better, I think but I still had so many come to me and ask if all of that talent came from our own congregation - that it was Broadway quality!! I agree - God has truly blessed us with lots of wonderful talent in ALL of our ministries.

Have a great day all! Lots of warmth to those who need it. :D

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

Glad you liked your gift Ann  , thanks for the warmth too. It was 8 degrees here when I got up this morning. we've got about 1" of snow on the ground.

I got the new alternator put on the car yesterday, just in time to find out the new part was defective. I took it back and exchanged it[ I was smart enough to get the 2nd part tested before I left the store] then put the new part on...and it worked this time. Hey - what can I say? I'm an intinerant cook not a mechanic.

Sue - Where are you located in relation to Chicago? My Wife grew up in Chicago, and Elmhurst, IL. I always watch the WGN-9 weather because I know what they have, I'll have in about 24 hours.

I brought in Chicken Enchalada Skillet, and Parmesan Bow-Tie Skillet for lunch. Enjoy.

Time to start getting dinner assembled. Tonight is Mushroom-Sauced Steak, Lemon-Herb Grilled Potato Slices, Santa Fe Salad, and Black Forest Dessert Cake.

I have definitely become accustomed to this warmer climate!
If it were to snow more than a flurry down here, the place would shut down. I've heard that about 22 years ago they got 1/2" of snow and Valdosta came to a stand-still. Those (locals) that did venture out were having wrecks all over the place.

We do have a forecasted low for tomorrow morning of 29, will that be warmer than your high temp, Sue?:wavey:

Friends of mine moved from Long Island to Seattle and the first winter they had a lot of snow - something like 3" in one day! Well, my friends went on with their day only to find out that EVERYTHING was closed and cancelled!! They were shocked because 3" wouldn't do anything to us! LOL - But then again, we have plows, salt, sanders and we KNOW how to drive in the stuff whereas they didn't.

Jim: Wet it down and go outside...

    Rob: About 2½ hours south.

Gayla: We won't get up to 29º until this weekend.

What a day! I had to get to the grocery store and Brent tried to dig the snow away from the front and back of the car. It didn't work. There was all that ice under it.

I finally got out of the snow that the snowplow had thrown on it and made it about 15 feet until I realized I had a flat tire!

All the garages in town were too busy pulling people out of ditches and I knew I could never change it with the lugs frozen on (I'm not even supposed to be OUT in this weather).

Anyway, hubby came home on his lunch break and got the tire off and put the 'donut' on. I made it to the grocery store and when I came out - the DONUT was flat.

I had to call hubby again and he brought his little compressor and pumped it up enough to get me home. Then he went to Wal-Mart and picked up the regular tire they had fixed and put it back on my car.

Did I say "What a day?!?"

Going to fix supper now.......been baking all day.

No one and I mean NO ONE better say anything about HOT AIR that is in any way connected to my flat tires . :tongue3:

Speaking of Wal-mart, the one a few blocks from where I live was robbed at 2 AM Sunday morning (when the store was closed, and workers were stocking shelves), by a couple of guys in Wal-mart smocks, who they let in. Then they duct-taped one person and held a gun to their head, and demanded money. They got away with $300,000.00!!!!!! Yes, you read that correctly!

A man from our church who is an assistant manager was there and said it was pretty scary. The company is giving everyone who was there a few days off with pay to kind of chill out after such an experience.

    Merry Christmas from the city!

In other news, it's finally a little cold here - in the 40's. I guess you folks in the midwest squeezed all the snow out of it - all we got was high winds.

    Good Evening Everyone!

    Scary story Debby!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Monday evening as much as we have! Tonight was our town's annual Christmas parade. We walked the route with our karate school and had tons of fun, EXCEPT, it's 30 degrees out and there were so many participants that the one who went first had made it back to the starting point before everyone had made it out of the starting point! We were told to be ready to start by 5:30. The parade started at 6 by 7 our group hadn't made it out of the lot! Thank the Lord for thermal underwear! :D

Cassandra didn't get to participate cause she is sick. When we made it back home, she grinned and told us she had had a nap. A warm nap!

Were supposed to have a heat wave tomorrow after tonight's low of about 21. It's going to get up to 53!

Is this a first? I am first! Hello, and welcome to snowville, Ontario. Yes, we got the first snowfall in the night..only about two inches, but it is snow. The woods looks lovely with the sun shining brightly on the snow covered branches.

Cheers everyone, and enjoy the day,

    Jim
