    Good Afternoon Everybody,

Jim: You've got a winner there. Of course Grandpapa isn't the least bit proud is he?

Cuz: Sorry to hear the URI has landed in the menagerie. Could we have got hold of a "bad" raccoon in the spaghetti?

Gayla: So glad you're feeling better.

Helen: So happy you have a new "baby". Please post some pictures when you can.

Ann: That's great about the Tech students.

I am now out of work. My MIL informed me this morning that she doesn't need anybody to sit with her. She is walking better, and her confusion is improving. So the "head nurse" aka Brenda is allowing me to come home for the day and night.

An RN from the hospital where she had the heart cath called yesterday to see how she was doing. I asked her if they had in her chart that my MIL is sensitive to Morphine, that it causes confusion to develop. It wasn't noted in her chart. I know it's on the chart at the local hospital, and I gave it to the hospital where she had the heart cath. I guess it didn't get put on the chart. It's on there now.

We'll see if I stay "unemployed" after 24 hrs. The hours were long, the benefits were non-existent, and the cook was lousy [the patient is on a bland diet for awhile, and the cook isn't used to preparing bland foods. ]

So I'll stay up the rest of the day to get back on my normal schedule, of course if I have to go back tonight my goose is cooked. That's okay - I like cooked goose.

My grandkids are jumping for joy that Papa is home. It seems that 3 days of Nana's cooking is all they can take. Can you spell s-p-o-i-l-e-d?

I looked in the cupboard and there is barely enough there for me to make Firecracker Burgers with Cooling Lime Sauce, Banana-Pepper Slaw, and Chilled Fruit Salad. As a matter of fact, I made enough to bring into the CGCH. Enjoy.

I know it isn't nearly as good as my Cuz makes, but I try.

Just got in from working with the animals. If that mare is not careful, she is going to be Mary -- as in Mary, Mary quite contrary! I put a lanolin ointment on her scar tissue last night and wrapped her leg. Took it off this morning and the hardened scar tissue was soft. This horse that 'cannot gallop' was chasing Papa (the old mini) out of 'her' part of the pasture! I was stunned. She will graze under the big willow then go back in the stall. Then up to me for approval and love! Little stinker! I put her on a lounge line and worked her for a bit, but although she was willing and not afraid of the whip, a fairly tight circle at a trot was all she was willing to do. She kept wanting to come in and get loved....

    Jim, your grandson is gorgeous!
FoG, so glad you can go home and sleep now. Interesting how hospitals don't keep each other informed, eh?
Ann, good names -- I'll watch her personality a bit. She's got a lot more life in her today than she did yesterday! Years ago when the kids were growing up we had a part pony that was a 'flea bit' white named Sprite. Great little animal. I always liked that name, too. We'll see if it fits her as the days go by, or if she remains contrary!

OH, for those who like to make bread here -- I ran out of butter yesterday and so used olive oil instead. Best bread I've ever made. Did it with oatmeal, whole wheat, flaxseed, and regular unbleached wheat. Rises beautifully, cuts like a dream, and tastes wonderful.

Off and away now -- pansies to plant, laundry to do, desk to clean up, floors to vacuum.....LOL God bless you all.

The SOUTHern Drawl Shall Rise Again!

I just read a news article that says the "Southern Drawl" is moving northward.

I can just hear my Cuz complaining now when I open my post with "Good Morning Y'all."

    Good evening all,
I can't believe that I missed that yummy lunch Rob brought in. I knew that I should've come in at my break today. Oh well, life goes on.
Helen- Can't wait to see pictures of the new horse. I am jealous-I love pansies but don't get to plant them here for another couple of months.
Jim- that grandbaby is getting more handsome everytime we see a picture.
Rob- I am glad that your MIL is doing better and hope that your time off continues.
I had better go, mom just called she is bringing chicken home to eat so I need to go move my car so she can have her parking place back.
Y'all have a good day tommorrow!

Morning all. Thought I'd stop in to see how things were going on the BB for now.

Hope all is going well for y'all. There's going to be something very interesting on (documentary) about the company that my wife has her home biz with. I don't want to cause trouble with the administration here, so, if you want more definite info on the times ,etc, give me a PM or email with your email.

    Have a wonderful day. :type:

    Good Morning Y'all  ,

I'm still out of the Private Duty Home Care business, as far as I know.

Just thinking what a miserable sound that would be to have a combination of my Michigan accent with a Southern drawl. Could happen though, I do live in Southern Michigan ya' know.

I brought in Waffles and Eggs, Sausage Gravy & Biscuits, Fresh Fruit, and Hot Caramel-Pecan Rolls. Enjoy.

Today I have to go grocery shopping. Our cupboards are bare, completely bare. The G-kids are thrilled that Papa's back. They got upearly and asked me to make breakfast this morning. They got the same thing I brought in to the CGCH.

Time to go help the store make payroll for the week.

    <bleck> Welcome to Tuesday Everyone.

Yesterday got so much better that I had almost forgotten I was sick. Until after karate. It wasn't a hard workout, but was enough that we ate out last night. I spent the night alternating between trying to breathe and trying to swallow and not being successful at either. Then toward morning it just sort of went away again. For me. I'm just really tired from not sleeping. Jenna on the other hand woke up congested, coughing and iwth her ears hurting. She went on to school, but I'm betting she doesn't stay all day. Whatever this is, I'm tired of it.

Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. I hope I get to feeling better!

Tonya, try to get some pictures, otherwise nobody will believe you.

Poor girl is probably out of her mind with pain and doesn't know what she's doing.

Helen - How about Cookie? As in "tough cookie"? LOL!!

Jim - He's a DOLL!! My Nicole had hair like that - she now has the most gorgeous silky hair. Oh - I miss babies! Wish I could have more......

Today will be a quiet day at home doing chores and homeschooling. I rode yesterday and the goon was sore again. He's GOT to stop running in his stall!! I keeps getting that back leg sore and then when I ride him, he's all hitchy and gimpy in that leg. It took me a full 45 minutes until it was all worked out. I can't have that - it's ridiculous! So, last night he got locked outside his stall. I think he'll do fine with that but we need to increase the size of the small run-out he's got.

Well, Robby went to the dentist yesterday and he'll have to have the baby tooth pulled. It shouldn't come out until he's closer to 11 so he'll have to have a spacer put in but apparently the abcess broke the tooth because when the dentist broke open the abcess (it looked like a big white zit on his gum - sorry for the icky factor), it even came out the tooth so the tooth is already compromised. If we don't get it out, the infection can affect the adult tooth, so we have no choice. He'll get the tooth out tomorrow - pray for him! He's understandably scared.

Ann, we had almost decided on a different name and then read your post. Liked it. Tough Cookie it is! We'll call her Cookie, but I like the 'tough' part, too, and that's what we'll have the vet put on her chart! That wiill crack her up, as she is the one who told us to take this poor animal, please....

I was finishing cleaning the stalls, paddocks, and barn this morning when I heard grunting from a stall and looked in and saw her lying flat out. Oh no! Not again this soon! We just had to put down SnowAngel a couple of months ago!

I walked into the stall, "come on, get up, get up..." She scrambled up and looked at me as if to say, "What's your problem? I'm not allowed to lie down for a good roll?"

    In the stall?????

Oh well, Sweet Cookie, Tough Cookie, Underbaked Cookie (Barry says "Half-baked Cookie" is better). Cookie it is and she seems fine. She licks your hand like a dog would. Never had a horse do THAT before.

    Life is NOT boring here.

Cool!! I named a horse!! :D I kind of like "half baked cookie" - LOL!

Rolling in the stall is a great pasttime around here. Nothing like going into a clean stall, peeing and pooping then rolling around REALLY well to make it feel like home. LOL!! Then there's the pony from camp who would fall asleep in his stall laying down - and snore. It was a horrible sound where you thought he was dying but he'd just be snoozing away... We actually got a video of him - I'll see if I can find the link.

As for licking hands, we have a horse at camp who LOVES to lick the farrier's neck as he's doing the front feet. Seriously - the entire time he's bent over that hoof, she's licking his neck. It's probably the sweat but still - it's SO funny and he just has to stop sometimes because it tickles so much. Whirl loves to lick my hands - I've seen it a lot around here. Again, I think it's a salt issue, although all these horses have free access to big salt licks.

ETA the link to the YouTube of Teddy - listen carefully:

Never been "horse licked" before. :D

I'm just sitting at the library, passing the time before picking up my little one from school. Dreaming of a Coffee Light Frappachino with sugar-free vanilla syrup.....

Know where I can get one pronto? :D

Never fear, it was just a scary episode! No injury to ingredients usually used in cooking occured at the menagerie today.

I AM going to have to talk to the doc about these mood swing though. ;)

Pictures? I did NOT hear my CUZ, ask for evidence of me abusing the kitchen, did I? Nah! Couldn't be. Cuz just wanted to see pics of me receiving my new belt in karate class, right? :D

    Evening all,

My, things have been very busy in here!

I am still very busy washing down ceilings, walls, woodwork and painting. I've taken everything down off the walls and shelves in the dining room and washed them.

Brent is attempting to remove a border running around the center of the room so I can paint in there and put everything back in place.

I can sure tell this house is over 100 years old by the size of the cold air ducts (which I'm sure aren't 100 years old). I've been cleaning them in each room as I paint. They are so large, I almost fell in one trying to reach down!

Now, THAT would be a picture. Me with my head stuck down in the duct with my legs waving in the air - stuck and no cell phone. I wonder if 911 ever got a call to remove someone from a cold air duct.

It looks like this place is being well taken care of in my absence. I knew you could do it!

I will stop in when I can.

    Pleasant dreams all!

I'm almost ready to admit I might be more sick than I thought. Kept wondering why I felt sooo hot one minute and soooo cold the next, so I hunted down a thermometer which congratulated me on running a low grade temp. I can't remember the last time that happened. I don't think I ran a fever with my last bout of pnuemonia 10 years ago.

But, like Sue, I'm in the process of cleaning this house top to bottom so work must go on. I'm thinking of calling in reinforcements though. I really only have everyday stuff, walls, carpets, one corner of the living room (not mine!) and the library (which mostly need rearranging), left to finish. I'm trying to get everything done by Friday, cause Friday is homecoming, Cass has her first date (to the homecoming dance), two extra girls are coming here to get ready for the dance, Cade is coming, Jenna has a friend coming and with all those kids I don't need to have to clean on Friday! Btw, all these kids will be here by noon that day, well 'cept maybe the older girls, the homecoming parade is at 1, so we all have to go to it too. :D

Normally, I would love all of this, but I'm sick. :(

So, I'm still not cooking. Ya'll don't need my germies.
