When Patches wants to nap, she'll go stand outside Nick's bedroom door (it's next to our t.v. room door) and cry for one of us to go get in bed with her. I usually take an afternoon nap on the sofa and she hops right up too. She's very affectionate and has made herself right at home. The card on her cage said she had spent her whole life at the shelter (from 6 weeks old!) in that tiny cage!

Sue!! Sounds like she is just plain overwhelmed and scared to me. Can she be comfined to a smaller space, like a bathroom or a bedroom, for a while, with litter, food, and water? Then visit her frequently, stroking and talking softly. She'll come around.

Oh Sue! I know the exact cause! A kitten needs to be handled by humans a lot during the first 6-8 weeks of their lives or they'll be too feral. Sounds like this one is overwhelmed. Our little kitty is just precious. She HAS raised up to claw on the sofa twice but I've just clapped my hands softly and she stops before she latches on. She's sleeping right now on the sofa next to Nick while he watches cartoons.

Sue, I would suggest you get an older cat from the animal shelter. There were 3 LOVELY older cats that I wanted but I decided that an older kitten was more appropriate. Dubbs was 1 when we got him. His owner had moved to a new apartment building and had to surrender him and a much older cat. He had no bad behaviors.

Your Monday? Do you work odd days Wendy? I have no kids until 5:30 a.m. Monday. One mom forgot to come by with the check but she's always paid me a day early so I'm not concerned. Probably got caught in traffic, got home late and has tomorrow off so...

Happy New Year if we don't get to talk to you before then! TY, btw, for my turtlenecks! I ended up with 4 in nice colors. BIG sale! [IMG]

    Good morning all:

We are having another Spring-like day here. It is 52º heading for a high of 63º. This weather is unbelievable for Illinois in December! It was -5º just a week ago on Christmas morning!!!

Hubby is off work until January 3rd. This would be a nice, warm, day for him to take down the outside decorations.

I go back to work on 'the corner' January 3rd. It seems like I haven't been there forever since I've been unable to work it for over a month...

Cassie §ue (6) will be spending the day with us today. The girls will be going back home to WI tomorrow or Sunday.

We are going to rent some DVD's to watch this evening and we HAVE to buy some egg nog to drink since it's New Year's Eve... I will probably drink mine around 9:00 though. I don't think I can stay up until midnight anymore.

    Cruising,

I want to pause and wish you all a very Happy New Year, and prosperity in the Lord. A time to remember Him for sure, and our fellow travellers. That's all we are; travellers. No matter how classy we travel in the world's eyes, we will all share the same mansion just over the hilltop.

    Cheers, and God bless,

    Jim

    Amen, Jim!

Church is doing a potluck tonight, followed by a talent show, games, and a service at 11:00 - midnight. I just hope enough teenagers show up to play with the kids. New Year's is one of those times I like to be "off duty" when it comes to working with the kids.

Then of course, watching the Mummers' Parade tomorrow. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's been described as "Broadway meets Mardi Gras." With "String Bands" made up of banjos, guitars, violins, basses, saxaphones, and glockenspiels marching in wild costumes decked out in feathers, satin, sequins, etc. It's "one of a kind." But then, so's this town.

    Good Morning All!

It looks to be a nice day here. It was supposed to cloud up at some point over the weekend, but I'm not seeing much sign of it yet.

Today is grocery shopping day, ugg. We only get paid once a month so I have to get all the basic stuff at one time, which is today. The problem is that yesterday when I went to Waily World(walmart) it was absolutely loaded with people. You couldn't push them out of the way. I believe it was worse than Christmas eve. I dare say my 3 hour usual shopping time will turn into an all day affair. :(

Ah, well I'd best get at it. Ya'll have a good day!

Very deep thoughts there Jim and puts things in perspective! Thanks for reminding us that no matter how well off or poor we may be, in our Father's eyes, we're all the same.

We are pretty boring people here. We'll have some shrimp, veggies and dips, etc. and play some board games. We don't watch the ball drop or any of the 'specials' on t.v. but will choose some movie. We don't even bother to try and make it to midnight. If we're up, we're up. Nick has decided HE plans to be up. He thinks something magical happens at midnight and we've told him for years that it's exactly the same! Guess he'll find out tonight!

The neighbors had fireworks LAST night so I know there'll be plenty tonight.

I am off of here for most of the day. It's time to pick up Cassie so she can play with Brent. We will take her back when it is time to do papers.

Then it's off to Family Video to rent DVD/VHS movies to watch.

I don't keep up with the movies. Any good suggestions on what to rent?

Happy New Year everyone. Nothing exciting will be happening here, either. Kiddos will be in bed, and the Daddy might not even be home yet.

Sue,The Princess Diaries I and II are good. Julie Andrews actually sings a little in the second one.

What's everyone doing tonight? We had shrimp and oysters for dinner which is our usual. Nick and Jim are playing a PS2 game and Patches is curled up next to Nick's leg as close as can be.

    Hope everyone stays SAFE tonight!
