    Greetings all!
I've been up to my ears in VBS this week!!!! We've got almost 60 kids and are having a wonderful time! We're on African safari and had the story of Daniel and the lions' den today. Thursday is Jesus' death and resurrection, when the gospel will be presented with an invitation. I'd love your prayers that many young hearts will be given to Jesus that day!

Glad to see all the newbies here. It will serve to liven up the place a bit! Welcome!

Gotta get some sleep, the VBS Director's day starts early. G'nite all.

Yep Cindi, I usually eat loads of veggies and don't count them at all. I ate a bunch of salads last week but felt like I needed some meats/ protein, so added boiled eggs and some chicken and tuna. I had to cook for 5 kids today so hence the pasta. Cheap ;) I take vitamins every day but mine don't have iron. Extra iron isn't recommended for people over 50.

I will drink tea but cannot tolerate water. Ours is brown right now from all the flooding. Six months from now they'll send us notice that the water was unhealthy and needed to be boiled.... Too little, too late!

I'd have to be starving to eat Jell-O

I'm down to 3 or 4 Pepsi's a day. I was drinking 6 or 8 in this heat. I also was having ice cream and snacks every night and eating breakfast and lunch with the kids. I've lost 6 pounds since July 3rd.

Eeeewwww! Brown water! I hate when that happens. Here it is usually from a broken main.

Haha, great minds think alike. I usually do some kind of pasta here too, when I have a bunch of kids to feed. I closed the daycare down today and so didn't have any extras. Didn't fix lunch either, they had to fend for themselves and make a sandwich. Poor, poor, neglected kids.....

Mmmm, ice cream! Love the stuff! I've decided that it's the heat that is causing all the weight gain. I've gained nearly five pounds this summer myself and I promise I'm not eating nearly as well as I did when school was in session. With this many kids, who has time to eat! Nah, the truth is, I'm an extremely slow eater and if I once get interrupted then I don't want to finish. Been that way as long as I can remember.

What is it with people and jello? Ya'll eat jelly don't you? There's not that much difference.

    Cherry Jello is my favorite!!!

Once I was on a diet---went "cold turkey" on Blue Bell & co.-----had to have somethin' to satisfy my cravin'----so I whipped up-----cherry jello---cool whip and a sprinklin' of crushed pecans and a graham cracker---all mixed up in a bowl----pretty good!!!

Another diet dessert----Blender Smoothies----crush up ice, a dash or two of evaporated milk----a little frozen fruit---strawberries----blueberries---a dash of vanilla flavoring and a teapoon of sugar----pretty good!!!!

Well Nick's allergist scales had me same as my home scales. Nick burned his hand on a sparkler so I took him to the ER and weighed there. Their scales were 8 lbs heavier than mine (but also would mean NICK gained 6 pounds in 2 weeks) so I dialed up my scale to match that. STILL, if I subtract the 8 pounds I'd be 12lbs over what I want to be so I figure 20 lbs needs to GO!

What to eat, what to eat!?!

    Can't eat Beef...Mad cow

    Can't eat chicken...bird flu

    Can't eat eggs...Salmonella

Can't eat pork...fears that bird flu will infect piggies

Can't eat fish...heavy metals in the
    waters has poisoned their meat

Can't eat fruits and veggies...insecticides and herbicides

    Hmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I believe that leaves CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!

    Chocolate is a Vegetable

Chocolate is derived from cocoa beans.

    Bean = vegetable.

Sugar is derived from either sugar cane or sugar BEETS.

Both of them are plants, in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable.

To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy. So candy bars are a health food.

Chocolate-covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want. ;)

    Pleasant dreams all!

Now that's something to sleep on! [IMG] [IMG]

Oh no Diane, my weight gain has nothing to do with the doctor's scales and all to do with my own! I'm almost at 150, usually my scales show me at 144 or 145 depending on the time of day.(yes I'm an old woman who holds water during the day  )

Blackbird, next time you have a little neopolitan ice cream, do the smoothie thing with it and a couple of strawberries and a bit of banana. Instant banana split smoothie. Leave out the vanilla and the sugar, you won't need either.

    Yep, that's how we went.

is 78 going to be an Interstate? Or at least part of 78, kept seeing signs that said "future I-22 Corridor"

On the way home took I-40 all the way to Nashville, than I-24 to Chattanoooga got on I-75 there. Trying to go around Dennis as much as possible. Mostly had medium rainfall in Tenn on Monday.

Now that we know he's off this week every year, we can plan and save up. We really couldn't afford the trip, but went anyhow. [IMG]

Water Retention... Ah, what fun! Did you know you can have heat edema when it first gets quite hot if you are inactive and sitting or standing in a hot area? Well, I could prove it! The day it was 94° in this room, my ankles puffed up nicely! They did it the beginning of summer last year too. We NOW have the window unit for this room and Jim fixed the A/C so if it gets warm, I turn on the one in this room and if it's quite hot, the whole house!

I was 150 at the ER! Now I had on jeans, boots, socks, a shirt, belt, etc. and I usually weigh first thing a.m. right before hopping in the shower. I'm sure the 6 pounds I've lost is water weight. I'm only 5'2" so that's too much for me but I am big boned. ;)

    Morning all:

It's already nearly 75 here with a heat index near 80...yuk! I just walked out onto the front porch to watch Viv get into the car and drive out of the drive and it's raining...now that wasn't supposed to happen... ....but, it's not uncommon here!

With all of this talk about weight, I was weighed at the doc's office two days ago and I was still holding at 306, but they said that meant I probably weighed 298. So, I don't feel so bad. It's far better than the 450+ I used to weigh! :D

Life is getting back to normal here, thank the good Lord. It reminds me of the whole chapter of Psalm 107 where it is repeated oft

"Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!"

I hope ya'll have a wonderful day. God bless.

    Good morning all:

I just talked to Dale, on the phone, and he had a restful night's sleep. PTL! He also walked the 'lap'. The doctor said walking would help his 'innards' get settled and remind them of their 'job'...

Yesterday, he had 4 ounces of Sierra mist every EIGHT hours, not every four hours like I reported. It has stayed down so maybe his stomach is becoming settled...

He doesn't want me to come down until I get the brakes on the car fixed tomorrow morning, so I am staying home today, but will maintain contact with him by phone.

We are expecting more rain this morning and some thunderstorms this afternoon. 'JULIE' came and marked for the fence, but the rain will probably wash it out, so it may have to be marked again. I have a young man coming to give me an estimate today. He does not have a 'business', but does this kind of work. I'm hoping his estimate will be MUCH lower than the last one!

I am going to try and do nothing today except deliver the papers! I slept well, but don't feel rested. I don't have a headache though!

    Good Morning everyone!

Gayla the I-22 corridor is what we locally call Corridor X. It will connect Birmingham with Memphis. They've been building on it for the last 15 years and say it will be another 5-10 years before it is open to through traffic. Parts of it are already open, but there are still significant portions that haven't been begun. Highway building is a sloooooow process. It'll be nice when it does happen though. T has to drive 78 to work everyday and the traffic some days is unreal.

Diane, I tried the morning weighing.....I was even heavier! Topped 150 today. All this outside work I've been doing, I should have lost weight not gained it! Oh well, so long as my clothes still fit I won't worry to much.

Tony, it rained here this morning too. It's a conspiracy to keep us from getting finished in the back yard!

The mosquitos here are big enough to carry a person off and now we have little tiny black gnats that bite harder than the mosquitos.

MK, when we got back home from the funeral, our yard was cut. The people of the church had cut it for us. We really appreciated that. But, with all this rain, it's going to need it again! LOL I still don't have my riding lawn mowers fixed. I've been in and out of town so much I haven't had a chance to have them in the shop!

Coov- I was going to say scratch the plates. Don't need 'em with fried chicken. Seeing you had two servings of chicken coming I was going to pass up the other stuff. Now that gumbo...that ain't got any crawfish in it, does it? Can't have bass bait in the soup!

MK- Just got back from the city and guess what the Mrs had sitting on the counter to cool? Not one but TWO banana breads. I love that woman. Now if I can get the butter to thaw right quick!

Sounds like someone has never had crawfish done right. ;)
No bugs in the stew if you don't want it. I prefer them on the side anyway.

So we had an interesting service on Sunday. A young man from our church got married Saturday night, and weddings always get our pastor thinking about new sermon topics. Sunday morning he preached from Ephesians 5. You know, the whole bit about wives submitting to their husbands, husbands loving their wives, etc. Only he preached it "backwards."

The premise was this: Instead of talking about how Christ's relationship to the Church is the Biblical model for a married relationship, his approach was to ask the question, "What if our marriages were the model for how Christ's relationship to the Church should go?" Yikes.

He went on to talk about what it would be like if the Church only submitted herself to Christ when she felt like it or when she agreed with Him? And what if Christ loved the Church the way I love my wife? Double yikes.

Of course, the whole idea was still to point back to the fact that how I love my wife should be modeled off of how Christ loves His Bride, but sheesh! Talk about majorly convicting when thinking about it in reverse!

    Holy matrimony, Batman!
