    Sue,
So glad to hear your praise report!! Let uslknow about your project. Maybe it will inspire those of us who need it!! (such as moi)
    Jim,
No signs of fall here at all....been 95 with the heat index for the last week and not much else in sight.
My time is going to be way off for the whole day. Was up at 2:30AM this morning in order to get my son to church by 4:00AM to leave at 4:30AM for a big white water rafting trip to North Carolina today. I never sleep well when I have a major deadline like that that I'm afraid I'll miss. Sat and talked with parents til after 4:30, came home, went to bed, didn't wake up til 10:00, ugh!!!!!!!

blackird - oops, hit the reply button too fast...I AM tired today!!! do you have any more bad weather for your area projected? There was a group of men who were supposed to leave from our church today for Gulfport/Biloxi but were told to hold off til Monday because of the gas situation and the possible bad weather coming from Rita.

    Good Morning everyone.

Glad to hear about Dale's report and that he is able to go to work.

Jim, it is 86 degrees here now and will get warmer. Looks like the rain will miss us. Maybe we will get some next week.

PamelaK. I'm the same way about early morning deadlines.

Blackbird, can you fly in that kind of wind?

Sue, don't keep us in suspense.

Mk, that orange cake was wonderful! Just what we needed to cheer us up.

This is typical fall weather for us. Up and down, cool at night, warm during the day,,,,,,,,,,and then, snow.

The trees are partly changed, but I think that is more the dryness than the season. Not the usual beautiful colours of the changing Maple trees.

Betty, I was wondering if you got to play at your services. I have a keyboard sitting here and I can only play a few hymns on it by playing the bass automatically. Fingers just won't hit the right keys and I drive Mary nuts.

There were times, I would go to the church at 2:AM and play the organ full blast for an hour or two and then go back home to sleep. I miss the organ more than preaching, to be quite frank.

    Cheers,

    Jim

yes, I played when they were singing the traditional hymns. The program included traditional hymns and the contemporary praise and worship. I know what you mean about loving to play the organ. When I was a teenager, two groups from my church were attending the large Baptist Church that had a pipe organ. Our group arrived and no one else came.

It seemed that there was a tornado between our town and the town where the church was located. This was in the days before any warning of tornadoes except how the sky looked. We were not aware of any storm.

Well I couldn't resist. I played that pipe organ and I played it loudly. This was before I had any organ lessons (only piano). I tried to put all the stops back to the original setting,
but I am sure that the church organist knew that someone had been playing "her" pipe organ.

I was fortunate to play that organ another time at my cousin's Wedding. By the way, if you remember Speaker Sam Rayburn, his funeral was in that very church. This was also the church where I was baptized because our little church didn't have a baptistery back then.

    Sue, great news about Dale!

Faith Community Church had their meeting last night and decided to start taking members (charter or founding members). We were among them. It was so great to finally get that bit of business out of the way. The meeting started at 6:30pm and didn't end until nearly 10pm. The Lord really allowed us to work together in a spirit of cooperation and love. It was so great to see that. We ended with a prayer meeting, and it was a very blessed time. Then the other two preachers and I got together and had private prayer for God to continue to bless our ministries at Faith Community and the church.

Today it was very muggy and hot. We went to Sams and put tires on the Lumina for $265.00, and bought some things we'd been needing. I got the house payment off (they didn't send a payment coupon, and I let them KNOW they didn't with a letter) and can't wait until we can refi to another company a year from December.

Hope you all had a good day. We're getting very cloudy here from Rita's outer bands. Supposed to be getting rain soon.

    Have a good night, all.

Be good, Be kind, Be careful.

Betty, We don't have an organist at the little Anglican Church where we go. The organ is equipped with a recording device that plays the hymns electronically. Looks odd to hear the music and no one sitting there.....

One of the things I enjoyed about going home and preaching in some of those great old churches was the pipe organ. One could fill the village with the sound of music, to borrow the title from the movie. Those old churches were built for sound.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Hi, Jim:

Out of the four of us living here, two of us are having attacks of Bronchitis and one of Asthma!

Believe it or not, we are getting some rain from "Rita" and the humidity is soaring.

That, plus the drop in temperature (supposed to drop down to 37ºF), has got us all running for our inhalors!

Hope everyone is having a blessed Lord's Day!

    Hi Sue,

They are terrible afflictions. Mary used to suffer attacks when they allowed smoking in public buildings. Since the public ban on smoking, she hasn't had an attack. Must be something there!

It is rainy, but also turned warm and humid. It goes down every night here now. I thought the drop in temperature would be beneficial to you.

    Cheers,

    Jim

The cooler temperature does help, Jim. But only when it stays cold.

Right now, it jumps around from a high of 90ºF one day to 57ºF the next day, then back up to 90ºF the next day!

The humidity is what really bothers me. And, of course, I work outside in it every day no matter what the weather is doing.

    This too shall pass...

Good afternoon. We had a wonderful church service this morning!

Hope you and your family are feeling better Sue.

It is 97 degrees here with now rain.

Seems there are many storms east of us.

Time for church again. See you all later.

    Hey everyone!

Son made peanut butter bars(think glorified rice crispie treats with chocolate), so I'll leave samples for anyone who dares. ;) Son is becoming quite the good cook.

It's been an interesting day here in west central Alabama. Former hurricane Rita, who is supposed to be sitting on top of Missouri, is spawning long lines of thunderstorm with tornados impeded within the storms. Mississippi has had their fair share of these storms as well.

The local TV station that I watch does contiuous coverage any time there is a tornado warning. One of their tower cams down in Tuscaloosa caught a perfect view of one of the tornados. It was quite amazing, and stayed on the ground for at least five minutes. The sad part is that there were a couple of injuries from that one.

We had quite a nice service this morning. We had a guest speaker who spoke on grace. This was the first day I was able to make it back to my SS class since finishing up my year teaching the third graders. We were kind of small in number, but had a very good class. Our new teacher is doing very well.

I'm making a pot of soup for supper, so anyone not daring the peanut butter bars is welcome to have something more, uh, substantial. :D There's cornbread to go with.

    Morning all:

It's nearly 80 here with rain from Rita. It was very, VERY windy yesterday, and is the same today. Humidity is at 100%, and pressure is at 29.66 which is a bit higher than it was yesterday. We're supposed to be getting rain all day today.

Yesterday in church we were sitting in the carport and leaves were flying in all over the place from the trees, but it was a joy! We had six people join yesterday, and two are going to be baptized next week. We're already making plans for the coming months, trying to figure out how to hang bamboo with plastic lining inside or tarps from the carport sides to help hold heat from the electric or kerosene heaters in.

Viv took the Lumina today since it had new tires on it. I think she's happy to have "her baby" back. Plus, it will save on the miles being put on the Sonata.

Well, hope ya'll have a great day.

Be good, be kind, be careful.

    Good morning all:

It is 68º with 100% humidity. YUCK! We have a chance of more rain this morning with a high of 74º this afternoon.

Dale and Bobby have already left for work and Brent is still sleeping. I am still having difficulty breathing and have that bronchitis cough, but I do feel a bit better.

My schedule doesn't vary much through the week. I go to work at the corner and home school Brent. Back to the corner in the afternoon, come home, fix supper, do dishes.

I received a plaster goose through FreeCycle. Her neck is broken and she has no beak. I need to repair her and paint her (she will go outside) so I may get that done sometime today. Of course, she will have several outfits to wear. lol

    Cruising,

    Hello all -
I think I felt the first touch of fall in the air as I walked doggie earlier this morning! [IMG] We're supposed to get some thunderstorms and some rain this afternoon. I hope this lasts!
School is in full swing again today and it's always easier to do when it's raining outside!!Sue, what kind of work do you do? Don't think I've caught that yet.
Have a great rest of the day, ya'll.

Pamela, I'm a school crossing guard twice a day. When I'm not at the corner, I'm home schooling my grandson.

Neither job is hard, just time consuming.
