Hello folks,

I think this is the coldest morning so far this year. Was 52 now it's warmed to a balmy 55. Turned the heat on, barely, to knock off the chill.

Sounds like y'all have been keeping busy.

Tony, still praying for you and Viv. Hope the road to recovery is a smooth one.

Menagerie, sounds like you need some vitamin C.

Wish I could get out and do some trimming on some bushes.

We're getting some stronger than normal wind today, probably from the outer bands of Wilma.

No vitamin C! I'm the one odd person that if I take extra C I'm gaurenteed to get sicker, or sick if I was well before.

Instead, I'm having a morning candy break with whoever's candy that was dumb enough to leave it in my room for more than two weeks. I've had a box of dots, a sour patch kid, two snack size hershey bars and I'm saving the sweet tarts and the now and later for lunch. My mood is improving already! [IMG]

LOL Padre!

Remains cold and rainy here as well, but we have had the woodstove burning the last two weeks, with a threat of snow a couple of times.

I am working outdoors and can't wear gloves at wot I am doing, so my hands are literally frozen. I think it is safe to remove the air conditioner for the winter and install a new window for it to be installed next summer.

Considering wot those in Southern Florida are facing to-day, we have it best off. May the Lord keep those folk safe.

Cheers,

Jim

Good morning again, ya'll! ;)

Sue, I am feeling much better, and believe I will be almost back up to par after the stent is removed this afternoon. Vivian is doing much better. Thanks for asking. Today is her 42nd birthday, and it's sort of hard on her because her mother isn't here. Her mom's b-day would have been the 9th, and her mom's anniversary would have been the 8th. But, she's really doing well and I've tried to keep things light hearted for her this month with some humor, some tears and a lot of backrubs and shoulder massages, hand holding, and little kisses on the cheek and forhead (and a big wet one on the lips before she leaves for work! ;) ) <<<<blush>>>>

MK, my blood sugar yesterday was down to 70, which is really low for me. The day before that, it was at 59 and I had to eat two full teaspoons of sugar. This morning it was 98. Two times in the last six months it's reached 285. Doctor said if it keeps going high, then low, he's going to put me on "Lantus", an insulin.

I went back to bed at 8:45 am this morning and got back up at 10:45. Those two hours of sleep helped. I took a shower and am ready to go to the doc! I know I've got an x-ray, urinalysis and the removal of the stent. Hopefully that will be all for a while.

It's 50 degrees here, and the cooler air feels marvelous! The leaves on the trees across the road and those behind us on other farms are beautiful! I thank the Lord so much that He led us to this property last year.

Blessings. [IMG]

Hello all...
It's 65 here in the house and very chilly on the morning walk today. Keeping socks on feet and sweaters on! It was supposed to rain this week end but haven't gotten any yet.
Tony - praying for you and will pray for your family also. I pray you'll be done today with all the medical stuff!
mk - have you tried echinacea? I know one is not supposed to have too much of it.
School is going well. Can't even think about Christmas yet. Just looking forward to Thanksgiving and starting to plan for that. It's my favorite holiday.
Have a great day all..

Lucky you, Tony. Our leaves haven't even begun to change. I'm beginning to think this is going to be one of those years where everything goes straight from green to the ground. That happens here if the weather goes straight from hot to cold, like seems to be happening this year. It's still only 52 out there. Yesterday it was 70.

Well my plans got changed for today. There is only a path being made to my sewing machine so I can do those uniforms. The rest will have to wait.

I'm meeting with our local child advocate this pm to discuss what was said in my phone call to Precious' principal on Friday and get some input. While we are there we'll probably also get some ideas on my sister's situation. She finally pulled her son out of public school because he was getting so far behind due to the school lack of accomodation. Problem is, she can't really afford to homeschool him.

Oh well, it's still Monday!

And now it is nearly noon here and what have I accomplished?

Not much, but I did check on my Florida children and they are ok, just rain and a little wind and they sill have electricity. Praise the Lord.

Called my 86 year old Sunday School teacher who is ill, having terrible pains in her hip. We talked for an hour. We talked about Sooner football and our little dogs. She seemed to be in a better mood. She told me she was running out of reading material so I will take her some books.

Mk, Do I ever remember those days? But the good ones really do overshadow the bad ones.

Remember Sue reminded us that sometimes the little delays may save our lives. We just don't know how many times God has protected us from disaster by those irritating delays in the morning.

We were under a freeze warning last night, but I don't think the temp got below 36, but we did have frost on the pumpkin (Ed's car). He forgot to put it in the garage last night. ;)

Well, laundry needs to be done, dishes washed, etc. etc.

Take care

Well, after the hottest and driest summer on record here, it is finally cooling off. This morning was 42' and I had to go to a funeral and stand at the graveside service and actually froze to death!!

A dear Sunday School member of mine died. I teach the "old ladies" at my church. This woman was my father's youth director in the 1950's and mine in the 1970's.

When I tell you that she was the most faithful Christian that I know of, I am not exaggerating at all.

Her priority in life was Jesus Christ and His church. She headed committees, did physical grunt work, sang in the choir, taught classes, directed puppets, visited the sick and lost, and led people at my church until just a few weeks ago. And she was 79 years old.

This was her typical lifestyle for over 55 years.

And she did all of this work in the name of Jesus Christ with an adorable and just as devout husband, children and grandchildren, an invalid mother in her home for decades, and a full-time job for over 55 years.

The ladies trio that I sing with was asked to sing. I did OK, until the second verse of the song and I looked out at all of the people of an extreme variety of ages who were moved and touched by this woman, and I lost it. I stood there like an blubbering idiot for the whole second verse. I didn't cry the "ugly" cry, but tears ran down my face and I couldn't sing a note.

Someone must have prayed for me, because I sang, very trembly, but sang nonetheless with the other two ladies on the last verse.

This woman, her name was Clarice, helped to raise me "spiritually".

She did the same for many generations of people.

I will never, until the day that I die, forget her nor what she taught me.

I just had to tell somebody about her. I know that when people die, you always hear others talk about their good qualities and say nice things about them, but I am telling you the gospel truth....there was and is no woman, actually no person, like Clarice.

She epitomized the Christian walk that the rest of us are supposed to be walking.

I could spend the rest of the day telling you about her and I would not even scratch the surface of making you understand what kind of powerhouse of a Christian woman that she was.

I will miss her dreadfully. I appreciate some of you listening. I just had to tell someone about her.

Anyways, it's freezing here in northeastern Louisiana, if you can believe it!

Now where are my SOCKS????

Peace-
Scarlett O.

It is a wonderful thing when one is moved to tell about another believer. We should all be so moved.

Another example of when something needs to be done, ask someone who is busy.

Just a side note, Scarlett..Hmmmm 79 is not that old,,,,I reach that in January...*smile*

Cheers,

Jim

You did notice that I put "old ladies" in quotation marks. [IMG] [IMG]

My friend was 79 and in the oldest Sunday School class, but she was definitely NOT "old".

And, Jim, may you reach 79 and FAR surpass it with good and health and much happiness. [IMG]

Peace-

Beautiful story, Scarlett. Thanks for sharing. It is hard to find someone like that and when we do - they stay with us forever...

Well, folks, I'm heading to bed. It has been a busy, tiring, but productive day and I'm worn out!

Pleasant dreams all!

Good morning all:

Scarlett, sorry to learn of the loss of this dear lady. It's always hard to lose someone who has touched our lives in a positive way.

It is 45 here this morning, and there wasn't any frost or fog! Viv was pretty happy about that. She's feeling much more chipper and her color is back. He sinus' are doing much better and her nausea is gone.

I have a lot to do today, and I hope that I've got the stamina to get it all finished. Some of it is getting mail packets ready...I've got to finish packing the prayer quilt our church is sending my sister in Waycross. Then there is a light bulb with a 10 year warranty that I have to finish packing and find the receipt for. It was a dud bulb in a packet of 8. I'm sending it back and asking for two more to go with it to cover the cost of shipping/handling. If their product is so good, I don't think they'll refuse; and I also have to find the sales slip for the Black and Decker four slice toaster we bought back in January and call the warranty dept to get a return authorization. Two of the slots don't work.

We did get out yesterday and finish mowing most of the grass around the mound in the middle of the side yard. The whole thing looks a whole lot better and now we want to start laying it out in patterns of how we want to landscape it next year.

Ya'll have a great morning. I may try to go back to bed after Vivian calls to let me know she made it to work. I'm still a bit weak, and the doctor said that would be normal after having gone through all of this stuff and being anemic already.

Be good, Be kind, Be careful.

T

Good morning all:

Tony, glad to hear you and Viv are feeling better!

It is 43º this morning with sunshine. It's only going to reach 51º today, but at least it's not raining.

I got all of the grandkids Christmas presents wrapped and tagged yesterday and also the gifts for each adult couple.

Since we are having Christmas with the family December 10th, I will wait and get Brent's Christmas after that. He has to wait until December 25th...

Surfing,

Good morning, God. It's me...Margaret.......remember that from the famous books? I can't remember the woman's name now.

It is still raining here, but a lot milder than it has been the past two weeks. I'm sure glad we used a sandy-loam to do our garden around the house, or we would be knee-deep in mud. The weather prognosticators tell us this rain is the backhand result of the hurricane. t is moving hard this way and will hit Nova Scotia as a tropical storm. We will get high winds and rain the next few days.

I trust everyone will enjoy their day.

Cheers,

Jim

5-8 inches of snow forecast over the next two days! The good news is that all those yahoos who forgot how to drive in the snow will get an early start. Hopefully by the time real winter sets in they'll already wrecked their car and the rest of us can drive in peace.

Bad news? Ummm... I'll get back to you on that.

Hey, Scarlett, thanks. [IMG]

Good morning all!

It was still cold this morning. Cool enough in the house that I had to light the gas logs. I wouldn't have had to if it had just been me and T as the cool doesn't bother us. The kids though, think they're freezing to death if it gets below 70. Southern kids have no appreciation for cooler weather.

Half of us are nice and sick this morning with this upper respiratory virus. We've decided there is nothing we can do but suffer through it so we are all moving. I'm not moving well though as the thing has seemed to give me the chills, without actually having a fever. Chills make my arthritis worse. I'm about to have to take the drastic measure of actually taking something for it. Nasty catch 22 of never taking medicine, is that when I do take something the cure is nearly as bad as the cause. Even a child's dose drags me down bad.

I'm looking for a good day in spite of things. Since I don't feel much like moving around I think that I'll sit at the sewing machine and make up Son's costume. He has a party on Saturday, so he needs it sooner than I thought.

Wonderful story Scarlett.

Ya'll have a good one!
