    Dr Tim,

I believe they are greatly in error in saying that.

Creflo Dollar teaches heresy, I was watching him once and he read frm the Bible --" What is man that YOU are mindful of him? YOU have made him lower then the angels and higher than the animals", he than just purposely let go of his Bible as he walked up the steps to his pulpit, and let it deliberatly drop to the floor with a loud thud! Creflo Dollar did not miss a step, he left the Bible on the floor and walked up to the pulpit and said, " that is a lie, a satanic lie, put into the Bible", he did not elaborate who. When I see Dollar on the tv ---I flip the switch. in HIS service------sheila

    </font>[/QUOTE]I agree with Mike.

BTW, I have also heard Creflo Dollar speak and some of what he said made sence...but as best as I can remember I heard him speaking of the little "g's" and turned him off. Although how long ago was it since he preached that and does he still preach it today?

Briguy, the following statement, made by you, is the problem!!

It is hard to say that some people practice something in Biblical error without coming across as close-minded or self righteous.

It is your OPINION that it is biblical error!!

Other people might think YOU are operating in biblical error. What you think is error is truth to another.

It's in the eye of the beholder!!! [IMG]

    Peace,

Just for the record, Creflo Dollar is one WOFer that I do have substantial problems with.

My comments about "not throwing the baby out with the bathwater" and not automatically labeling people because of the particular *group* they are a part of were general statements and should not be taken to mean I am a Creflo Dollar supporter.

    God bless,

    Mike

Hi Tam, I understand what you are saying. I kind of had to laugh at what I said when you pointed it out in your post. There are good people on both sides of the debate. The only thing I wanted to point out is that when this topic has been discussed, my side is able to produce more sound, detailed Biblical arguments coupled with logic to make a better conclusion as a whole [IMG] [IMG] That is all I am saying.

    In Christ,

I heard Creflo Dollar on TV once...don't remember if he spoke in tongues or not. The thing about his sermon that caught me is his obvious belief in the almighty $$$. Ever since that time, I make a point of changing channels if Creflo is on. I wouldn't listen to Creflo Dollar again if someone paid me!

BTW, I agree with those who think that speaking in tongues is a gift that passed long ago. I see no purpose in it now. In NT times it was a means of spreading the Gospel in languages the speaker had never studied...nothing more.

I think Creflo Dollar is one of the greatest dangers to orthodox Christianity today (btw...isn't that the worst name to have for a TV preacher?).
Many people who are in orthodox, evangelical churches would most likely not give a listen to a "charismatic" type preacher...but for some reason, Creflo gets their attention. And when he has their attention, some of the stuff he says amazes me.

One sermon i heard from Him was based on Phil 2, and he read "Let this attitude be in you that is in Christ Jesus" and then he said, "let's stop there". He then went on to say how we can be like Christ, but no in holiness, but in power, sucess, and in being "god".

A previous church i served at had a lot of people falling for this stuff...and i wouldn't not be surprised if my correcting it had something to do with my forced resignation.

There's my 2 cents, i'll scrape up the other dollar so that you can get a cup of coffee with it.

What kind of heresy is this? That truth is relative? It is ok for you to steal but not for me?
It is right for you to murder but not for me?
It is ok for you to commit adultery but not for me?
Where does it stop Tam. Is all truth relative? Do not the Ten Commandments have any relevance to you any longer? Does the Bible have any relevance any longer? That is the problem with the Charismatic movement. They put their experiences and their consequent extra revelations above and beyond the Word of God. What heresy!! The Word of God is not only our final authority, it is our only authority. Tongues, revelatory knowledge, prophecsy, etc. are no longer sources of revelation. The canon of Scripture is closed not open. We are not like the Mormons who have extra revelation such as the Book of Mormon. We have the Word of God, the Bible, and only the Bible. There is a warning at the end of it to any who shall add unto it.

Jesus said: "I am the truth." Is Christ also relative? No! His truth is absolute. He never changes. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. There is no concept as "What you think is error is truth to another." That is heresy. Truth is truth. It is not relative. If tongues are not for today and they have ceased then you are clearly in the wrong, and have an unscriptural view of tongues and the spiritual gifts. It is as simple as that. There are not two correct and oposing views. One of them is wrong.

You know what DHK. I was not talking to you. Just because you keep posting all this stuff, doesn't make it so.

What you think is truth, just simply isn't in all cases! I know you think it is, but it isn't.

You said:The Word of God is not only our final authority, it is our only authority. Tongues, revelatory knowledge, prophecsy, etc. are no longer sources of revelation.

You have not shown, to my satisfaction, nor to many others I might add, that this is a fact. It is something that you believe very strongly, but just because you believe it does not make it so.

The Word of God IS our final authority, but how it is interpreted is where we run into trouble.

But anyway, I will not argue with you. You will think what you want, and so will I.

Nevertheless Lord, bless DHK however you see fit.

    Peace, in Jesus name,

    Tam

Tam do you believe that we have an open canon today? Do you believe that there is other revelation that can be added to the Word of God?
If so, what is that revelation?
Where does it come from, and where can a person find it?
If there is more revelation to the canon contained within the 66 books of the Bible then there must be someone appointed to collate all the dreams, visions, the words of knowledge, the tongues and interpetations thereof, from all that have ever spoken them, and put them in volumes of books and make them accessible to all. For every Christian has the right to have access to God's revelation. God's revelation is never private. It was always for the edification of the church, for all. Please collate it all for us all to have access to it.

Can you demonstrate where I have taken away from the Word of God? If not, don't lay false accusations.

What in the world are you talking about DHK? There is only one bible. We all use the same one! (Not the same translation) but it's basically the same!!

No need for any other, the Word we have is enough.

    Peace.

I have not shown to your satisfaction that tongues, prophecy, and revelatory knowledge are no longer sources of revelation today. Thus the Bible is not a closed canon. It is still an open canon, as many Charismatics believe. They believe that the words that they utter are just as inspired as the words that are in the Bible. That is why they say: "I have a 'word of knowledge,' a 'word from the Lord,' 'a prophecy,' etc." They believe that their words are inspired revelation. If that be so, then collect them, and collate them, and put them in a book for all to read, and have access to. The Bible is no longer your final authority but your tongues and interpretations, prophesies, words of knoledges, etc., have become your final authority as well--on an equal level (and sometimes greater level than the the Bible)

Is the canon of Scripture open closed?

It is closed. God will not reveal anything to one that He will not reveal to another. Everything must agree with scripture. So what He will give to one in a word of knowledge, He will reveal to another.

I will say again, the problem is not with the Word, it is with the interpretation of the Word. Different people read it and seem to get a different idea of what it says!

Each of us must work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

    Peace,

    Tam

I am glad you have cleared at least that much up. Many of your Charismatic friends would disagree with you. That is why Benny Hinn comes up with all these weird doctrines like:
We are lttle gods running around on this earth.
There are nine persons in the trinity--three in each person.

This is by extra revelation. God speaks to him. The revelation he receives is just as important as that which is in the Bible. The canon is still open. Many Charismatics believe this.

BTW, do you really think anyone could go against what you say is the truth and get away with it? I'd go as far as to say that there are many Baptists, on this board, that are afraid not to agree with you, due to the fact that you may remove them from the BB!
