Now! You need to post evidence that shows Rush made fun of Fox. That was your claim was it not? See I was listening to the show the day he made the comment. I know what was said as I heard it directly from Rush. Where are you getting your info?

I guess you didn't read the entry. I gave three examples. Now show me where he did not make fun. You can't.

Now either write an entry of substance please.

All these people in an uproar over this....why are you not defending Letterman's First Amendment right of free speech? Many of you use that argument for prayer in public schools, so why does this not apply to Dave? You do not have a right to not be offended.

    14!!
how can anyone not condemn this and try to make excuses by using someone eles's action to justify this, you can not justify this, ever, in anyway.
I don't know, nor do I care what rush limbaugh said or did, what I do know is michael j fox is an adult man, not a 14 yr old girl, no comaprison what so ever. how can any christian defend this, and not condem it? this fact alone is outrageous!

crabtown boy needs to stay on topic, (sex jokes about a 14 yr old girl), want to discuss rush limbaugh, start a new topic, and post proofs.

no comparison what so ever, unless you think sex jokes about a 14 yr old girl by a man is appropriate.

Letterman has a right to make those jokes. Rush never made fun of M.J. Fox, but he has said some things that may approach what Letterman said. He has the same rights Letterman does. Americans were never guaranteed the right to never be offended.

You are right, both have the right to be sleezy if they want. Maybe that is one of a number of reasons I never watch Letterman and do not listen to Rush. What we put in our minds is what we become.

Ummm - the Palins said it was about their 14 year old daughter - but he was talking of their 18 year old daughter - MUCH different. I watched his show the night he used the jokes and never considered that it was a 14 year old girl but that he was speaking of Bristol - and he clarified that last night. The jokes were not against the daughter but actually against Elliot Spitzer and A-Rod, if I remember correctly - and then there was the one against Governor Palin herself.

No, you never listen to Rush, but you spend a lot of time reading his critics.

Rights and freedoms can cause just as much havoc as bondage and enslavement if they do not go hand-in-hand with responsible usage. In fact, the abuse of privileges can lead to anarchy.

Did he have a right to make a joke about a man having sex with an underage girl, which is rape? I suppose he did.

Did he have a right to come back and excuse himself by saying that he was talking about the 18-year-old and not the 14-year-old, thereby taking the rape out of the joke and just make it about calling her a whore? I suppose he did.

Did he have a right to take a man who has an obvious problem with gross sexual immorality and exploit the man's problem in front of the entire nation, just for a cheap laugh? I suppose that he did.

We certainly can't arrest him for it.

But his exercise of his freedom of speech doesn't make what he said the truth nor make it acceptable to say it.

His exercise of freedom speech didn't make what he said funny, edifying, nor harmless.

You know the old saying, "I don't agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."...... That's a bunch of crap.

I'd never defend his right to hurt people with his words. Never.

I don't think he needs to be thrown in jail for it. I don't think he even needs to be fired for it. But he does need to be called on it. And his words do deserve to be exposed for the cheapness that they are.

I 100% understand what you are saying, Curtis. But I don't 100% fall in line with your assertion that we aren't guaranteed the right not to be offended.

We can be offended any day of the week ...... the 13 colonists were grossly offended by King George and they told him off in a magnificent letter. It's just the manner of how we react to the offense that shows our apprecation of the right of freedom of speech.

    Here have a tissue.

The only time I hear about Rush is when something really stupid he has said makes the news. Same with Letterman. I see no reason to watch or listen to low life entertainers who make a ton of money at other people's expense.

Hmm.......I dare you to call Sarah Palin and tell her that.

Yeah, call up Sarah and tell her that his joke had nothing to do with Bristol's past behavior. And let us know what she said.

Oh'm sure Bristol's previous behavior had something to do with it but hearing the actual jokes definitely seemed more of a slam against NYers than the Palins.

    I beg to disagree...
When Letterman was making the joke, he never mentioned Bristol... he was referencing the daughter that went to the game. Bristol didn't go, Willow did.. the 14 yr old.

Then when Palin complained, he backpeddled and said last night, he was talking about Bristol.

Ann, if you took your younger daughter to a ball game, and then someone made a joke about your daughter and a ball player in a dugout, wouldn't you think it was about the one you took, and not your older daughter that you left home?

Letterman may have been talking about Bristol, but he should have done his homework, because he inferred Willow.

Hold on...I don't think many of us have said, "arrest him."

You have a right to free speech.

You don't have a right to slander.

You have a right to express yourself freely without government retribution.

You don't have a right to avoid the consequences of stupid speech.

To compare Letterman's vulgarities to STUDENTS PRAYING OF THEIR OWN ACCORD IN SCHOOL is terrible.

Which is why he went public last night and spent over 8 minutes discussing the issue. I saw the original jokes and totally took it as Bristol - not the younger daughter.

Read it a third time. Maybe you will see the three examples. If not ... well there is no hope.

    Have a blessed day.

A person who goes on national and international TV and participates in a political campaign is not a political figure? Not when she shows no shame about not being able to keep her pants on?

Letterman hasn't been funny for years - ever since he switched networks in the early 90's. He's become a classless jerk during that time. Maybe he always was, but he was better at concealing it earlier in his career.
