    From that article....

    After the FCC ditched the rule in 1987, Democratic lawmakers made several attempts to bring it back in statute. Those attempts were unsuccessful even when Democrats controlled both the White House and Congress in 1993 and 1994.

    It would be a huge mistake to enact this.

    Of course. But they keep trying.

    Add this to their other attempts to muzzle free speech and it gives the overall impression of a party that is in such decline that the only way they can continue to exist is to silence their opposition.

    Dennis Kucinich should run for office in Cuba, his politics fit right in.

    I challenge any liberal to tell us how this is fair.

    Of course it isn't fair. Bush listening in on phone calls, along with other provisions of the Patriot Act, as well as the Democrats stifling, in any way, free speech is not only unfair, it's frightening.

    Orwellian, indeed. On both sids of the aisle.

    Can't handle the subject at hand, so throw in a few red herrings and try to sidetrack the discussion.

    Pitiful. But the tactic ties in pretty well with liberal attacks on free speech in general.

    I don't think that Bush is on the same level, but don't blame you for your opinion. Bush has absolutely failed in describing this action, it's based on the exact same laws Janet Reno used to put John Gotti in jail. Bush has been his own worst enemy.

    Oh, I can't put Bush on the same level at all. W, however misguided, is doing what he thinks is best for the security of the American people. Democrats, on the other hand, think that the only way to silence Rush Limbaugh is by making him illegal. Bush is at least altruistic, the Dems are looking to silence their personal enemies. As someone who voted a straight Democratic ticket, it's embarassing, and makes me certain I won't be voting for those particular individuals again.

    Hey, no fair putting up a well-thought out factual response without an insult. Whaddya tryin' to do, start a trend ?

    Kind words about Bush, they ring pretty true also. But I do still think Bush is not the communicator that we need.
