    It seems to me that when Jesus was on earth he preached a different gospel than Paul the apostle, during his ministry. Jesus went about preaching the "gospel of the Kingdom", while Paul preached the "gospel of Grace". What was this gospel about that Jesus was preaching to the children of Israel?

    Jesus didn't preach about grace? That's a novel idea.

    Even if the premise of the OP is true, what difference doe that make. Lamentations preaches something different than Psalms, but that doesn't mean either book is less valid or authoritative. Likewise with the Gospels vs the writings of Paul.

    'Gospel' is "good news". Therefore the "good news" of the kingdom and the "good news" of grace don't necessarily have to be exclusive of one another. Last time I checked, Jesus and Paul were on the same team.

    The idea behind the OP is rooted in hyper-dispensationalism. (Not accusing the poster of this - just the idea presented.) Some forms of hyer-disp. claim that only the writings of Paul apply to the Christian today, and that the message of Jesus is for the millenial kingdom only. Rank heresy, IMO.

    There is not 2 gospels, just one

    Jesus was the grace of God sent down to man...while he was here He brought this message to the Jews...and they rejected it.

    Paul preached the same message through out his ministry.....that Christ was the grace of God sent down to man.... and there was no way other than His shed blood for our sins to get to heaven

    For just one instance....Jesus stated "I am the way the truth and the life, no man cometh to the father but by me."(John 14:6)

    Paul preached the same message....for one instance Rom. 10:13 "For whosever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"

    Most of the teachings of Jesus and Paul both are concerning the Kingdom.

    Paul also stated...

    1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

    2 Corinthians 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to [preach] Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,

    If Jesus preached a different gospel than Paul---that would mean that Jesus is damned/accursed!!!

    What did Paul tell the Galatians???

    "But though we, or an angel from Heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."--
    Galatians 1:8-9

    If any one of the two preached any other gospel than the other preached-----both were in a sad state of affairs!!!

    Same good news just different aspects. There is the good news to the dead man in sin (Gospel of the Grace of God). A spiritually dead man can not comprehend spiritual things. They are foolishness to him and he must be made alive before he is able to understand anything else.

    And then there is the good news to the spiritual man, one made alive by the Holy Spirit, (Gospel of the Glory of Christ - [Kingdom]).

    Hope that helps.

    1Timothy 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
    4 He is proud, knowing nothing,

    There is two gospels though and this might be whats bringing wonder in to Ron Arndt's mind

    I like to keep things simple when possible.

    1) Jesus was/is/always will be God.
    2) All scripture is God-breathed.
    3) God never changes.

    If the above statements are true then it really doesn't matter if Jesus "preached a different gospel" than Paul because, if their messages are different, they simply complement each other in God's overall plan to reveal Himself to us.

    We need to constantly guard against the urge to force God into a "box" whose dimensions are defined by our own limited abilities to understand His power.

    It's the same "good news" (The Salvation of the Human Race) through out the Bible progressively revealed beginning in Genesis 3:15.

    There is the whole history of events leading up to the culmination of the good news of salvation for the Jew and gentile alike through the blood atonement (death burial and resurrection) of Jesus Christ.

    Hebrews 1
    1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
    2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

    Hebrews 2
    3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
    4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

    There are certain aspects (mysteries) which remained unrevealed until the apostles went forth empowered by the Holy Spirit to complete the revelation concerning the "seed of the woman".

    It seems to me Jesus was preaching the same gospel as John the Baptist concerning the kingdom of God being offered to Israel. Jesus could not have preached the same gospel message as Paul the apostle did, for Jesus had not died yet and was not resurrected as well, during his earthly ministry.

    The Scofield bible indicates Jesus was offering a kingdom to the nation of Israel, if they would have repented of their sins and have been baptized.This kingdom was prophesied by the Old Testament prophets to be established in Israel by God.Isa.2 They rejected both John the Baptist's and Jesus' gospel message concerning repentance and the kingdom offer. So much so, they told Pilate they wanted Jesus crucified.

    Even in the book of Acts the apostles STILL believed Christ was soon to establish the kingdom.See Acts 1:6. Jesus told them, not at this time.

    Paul who was separately chosen of God was given a special calling, especially to the Gentiles. His gospel was simply was the gospel ABOUT Christ and how by trusting in Christ all can be saved. This was my point. The work of God with Israel and the future of the gentiles was PROGRESSIVE and very different.

    God through Paul was calling out a NEW body of believers of both Jew and gentile into what we understand as the church OF Christ or the "body of Christ". As Paul also called it "ONE NEW MAN".Eph 2:15

    In the Gospel according to Mark we are told when the Gospel of Jesus Christ began to be taught.

    Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

    The Gospel of Jesus Christ was preached when He began His ministry. Now what was that Gospel? Mark tells us in later Scripture:

    Mark 1:14, 15
    14. Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
    15. And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

    There is obviously no difference between the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

    Later in Scripture we read of Paul's rebuke of some in the church at Galatia for teaching a Gospel that he had not taught them.

    Galatians 1:6, 7
    6. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
    7. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
    8. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
    9. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

    However, after Paul's rebuke of the Galatians we read that in Rome Paul preached the Kingdom of God:

    Acts 28:30, 31
    30. And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
    31. Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

    Jesus Christ preached the Kingdom of God. The Gospel of Mark states that this was the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Was Jesus Christ preaching a different Gospel than Mark said in his introduction? Paul preached the Kingdom of God in Rome. Was Paul preaching a different Gospel in Rome than he preached to the Galatians? The Apostle Paul writes to the church at Rome:

    Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

    Was Paul writing to the church at Rome about a different Gospel than he preached at Rome?

    The truth is there is only one Gospel. There has always been only one Gospel, there is only one Gospel now, there will always be only one Gospel, the Gospel of Jesus Christ the power of God unto salvation.

    The Kingdom of God is the KINGDOM OF GOD IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST IS THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION.

    Jesus explicitly said that, after His ascension, the Holy Spirit would speak more to His people than He had spoken while on earth. This was accomplished through the apostles. So we would only expect there would be some particulars found in the epistles not found in the gospels.

    But so far as Jesus preaching an essentially different message than Paul, that is a rank absurdity and those who assert it prove that they either do not understand Jesus, do not understand Paul, or do not understand either.

    The more I study the Bible, the more I find that everything the apostles taught was grounded in something Jesus taught or did, and that every thing Jesus taught was grounded in the Old Testament Scriptures.
