    Got your attention :wavey:

The Written Word of God has been preserved in English
for this age in the Inerrant HCSB = Christian Standard
Bible (Holman, 2003). I do not believe
the HCSB to be this question's 'Word of God'.

The Living Word of God is Messiah Jesus.
I do not Believe Jesus to be this question's
    'Word of God'.

The Bible, correctly translated, interpreted and applied is the word of God.

Jesus is the Word of God.

The word of God testifies to the Word of God.

And, in spite of what I have heard a number of people say, Jesus is/was not "a walking, talking Bible."

The question was simple enough. "Do you believe the Bible to be the WORD OF GOD?" And the answer is, again simply put, YES. No need to go off the board with slicing the hair..... Putting it in other words, you are either a believer or an unbeliever. :)

Sorry Bud, it is the Logical error of: the FALSE DICHOTOMY,
    that you preach.
There are usually more than black & white in life:
greys comes to mind as does COLOR.

    My Bible says:
    Romans 10:9 (KJV1611 Edition):
That if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth
the Lord Iesus, and shalt beleeue in thine heart,
that God hath raised him from the dead,
    thou shalt be saued.

    It sure doesn't say:

If thou shalt confesse with thy mouth
the Lord Iesus, and shalt beleeue in thine heart,
that God hath raised him from the dead,
    and if thou practice bibliomancy;
    then thou shalt be saued.

Also, I've been on Public Bulletin Boards
since 1984 (that is 23 years come July).
I've learned that if the vote is 10-to-1 (or more)
against some position; then it is considered alright for the
'ten or more' side folk to vilify the '1' side folk.

You know it was the 'ten or more' side that
crucified Jesus, not the '1' side.

That vilification ain't going to work with me.
Don't be the type person that fights what they
    can't understand :(

    Amen Ed. PREACH IT!!!!

" I am the resurrection ,and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25

This is JESUS speaking. HE is the resurrection and the life and whoever lives and believes in HIM shall never die. NOT who believes in the Bible.

The last time I looked my Bible read Words of Christ in Red. NOT Words of the Bible in Red.

The Bible contains the words of God...all of those words He chose to share with His creation.

As for the Word of God (Greek: logos) found in John 1:1 and elsewhere in John's writings, that is Jesus...not the Bible.

If we can't believe the bible is the word of God, then why read it, study it, or try to live by it? It becomes a meaningless waste of time.

    Please don't misunderstand me Donna.

I believe the Bible is the Word of God. I just don't believe that somebody can arrogantly say that only one version of the Bible is THE Word of God, and worship that version only in place of God.

I believe that "The Word" in John 1:1 and John 1:14 refers to Jesus not one particular Bible version.

I study my Bible everyday ( I am KJVpreferred BTW). Just because I prefer to use a particular Bible version doesn't mean I think that other versions aren't valuable, and reliable.

Donna, no one has said that the Bible is not the word of God. But the poll asks if it is the Word of God (note all the difference one capital letter makes). In light of recent discussions here on the BB, one has to wonder if the poll is asking if the Bible is the Word of God as in John 1:1. It is not, in that case because there (as well as in the epistles of John and in revelation) the Word is Jesus...not the Bible.

Edited to add: at a second look, I notice that the poll askes if the Bible is the WORD OF GOD. Being in all caps, its hard to know if the poster was shouting, refering to the word with emphasis, or referring to the Word as in the logos of John's writings. So with that uncertainty, I'll simply state that I believe that the Bible is God's word and that The Word that became flesh and dwelt among us is Christ.

No, it is important to be clear about what you mean by "word of God"/"Word of God" because that is a source of great confusion in some areas of Christendom. If you have any doubts, check this thread.

Yep. That's the other reason I explained what I believe about both the Word and the word.

I believe that what you are calling 'the Word'
is what I call the Living Word of God: Messiah Jesus.

I believe that what you are calling 'the word'
is what I call the Written word of God: The Holy Bible.

And with that, I'll simply state:

Amen, Brother Lagardo -- Preach it!

Bro. Ed, if you do not believe in the Bible then what do you believe in?

When we read, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved," isn't that in the Bible, therefore, we believe what the Bible says. Where are you going with your dichotomy?

    to which I said:

The first paragraph to which Bro. Barnabas J. Halo says:

    1. I sure didn't mean what our Beloved Sister donnA
    thought I mean:

Depending on what value one gives 'Bible'
determines ir or not I believe it is the
'word of God'. After admiting I implied
    I didn't beleive I'd already said:

I spend a lot of time posting at:

    http://www.baptistboard.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13

    which frequently concerns itself if
the KJVs are the only 'word of God'.

So the dicotomy is really: 'what do you call the "Bible" '
