The Baptist church might be God’s preferred “denomination for one man, the Lutheran church for another, and the Roman Catholic church for yet another.

The Holy Spirit used Richard Lenski in the Lutheran church in ways that he could not have been used in a Baptist church, and the Holy Spirit used Father Raymond E. Brown in the Roman Catholic Church in ways that He could not have begun to use him in a Baptist church. Yes, Father Raymond E. Brown was earnestly sought for by Baptist pastors as a guest preacher in their pulpits, and he did occasionally preach in Baptist churches, but it was in the Roman Catholic Church that the Holy Spirit blessed and anointed his ministry causing him to be a blessing to both Catholics and Protestants around the world.

Isn't this a good argument for all of God's people to work together instead of bickering about details of theology?

Read the rest of the board and find out if the answers here are consistent with the answers elsewhere.

There is one Spirit, and one body of believers in Christ. Christian denominations that proclaim the essentials merely represent men's different take on doctrine and on God's word.

Well, since there are no denominations in heaven, why would God have a favorite on earth? God judges individuals by their heartfelt faith in his Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That is how God looks at men.

Can their be unity when 2 different denominations stand in opposition on a doctrine?

Again, if their is unity in the Messenger (God) and unity in the message (his word) that affirms unity, then why different denominations?

    Good discussion.

How do you become a member of a Baptist Church? And who baptized Jesus? You can figure it out from there.

Most Baptists think God's favorite denomination is the $1 bill!

We know that God is not a respector of persons. It is reasonable, therefore, to conclude that GOd is no respector of denoninations or fellowships.

Denominational-ism is a product of men AND THEIR INTERPRETATIONS of scripture. God never founded denominations, but only one church, made up of those who trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Amen, Ron. I concur. Denoms are manmade, not Godmade. Nothing wrong them them, imo, but we need to be aware of that.

    Pastor Mark

Let's set the record straight here shall we. John the Baptist was called "the Baptist" because he was a baptiZER and not because that was a denominational name. John was not promoting a religious movement. He was especially called of God to prepare the way for the Messiah and to get the children of Israel to repent and be baptized for the remission of their sins. That was John's ministry.

He was NOT called to preach to the gentiles or establish churches, let alone Baptist churches. He was chosen to go and herald the coming of the Messiah and prepare the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL.
