Why is it where it's at? Was it an attempt to foster peaceful relations between Muslims, Christians and Jews? Was it there for "healing?" Or were they saying, "We won?"

    Fastforward 1400 years to NYC . . .

The dome of the rock is the place where Muslims believe Mohammed ascended to heaven. The Jews believe that the rock is the place where the Abraham took Isaac to be sacrificed.

Yes, how convenient. And the reason for the ground zero mosque is peace.

I am not sure what your "how convenient" line means, but the spot was built in 688 AD. It was not built as a mosque but as a shrine for Muslims.

My understanding is the Dome of the Rock was built in Jerusalem on the spot where the Jewish Temple used to stand prior to the Romans destroying it.

I have heard, but have not substanitated myself, that Muslims build Mosques in areas that have been conquered. If that is true, then a Mosque at ground zero would proclaim a military victory to many Muslims.

    peace to you:praying:

We all know that Mohammed did not ascend to heaven. Therefore, it was made up.

So why have him ascend from that spot?

Except its not a mosque (not in the typically understood sense at least) nor is it at ground zero. But other than that, it certainly fits perfectly into the conspiracy. A non-mosque built out of site of ground zero is certainly a powerful statement of "We won!"

I know that. You know that. Maybe they even know that, but for them it is an article of faith.

I am not arguing with you. I am simply trying to answer the question you originally asked.

I guess Mohammad had a vivid dream. However, the fact of the dome of the rock is there for one reason. To prevent the growth of Judaim. It is meant for war. Islam is not a peace loving religion. It is a religion that will not be satiated until everyone is under sharia law and will attack with violence any other religion. Consider the Koran's verse of the sword. The dome of the rock was purposely put there for this very reason. The expectation that 1) people will submit to Islam 2) if it were destroyed to be a rallying cry for Jihad. A violent Jihad not a peaceful one where you struggle with your own demons.

We know this in the same way that they know Jesus was not God.

We have the testimony of God concerning His Son Jesus Christ. What do they have?

Actually it is ground zero as the building was the first one hit by any plane.

Yet the Islamic center is being built two blocks away and not in line of sight of ground zero.

"Mosque at ground zero" is an inaccurate description. "Islamic center near ground zero" is more accurate.

Given that the Dome of the Rock is an actual shrine built directly on the temple mount, I find the comparison to be very weak.

No, the building being used for the "religious center" was indeed the first one hit by the plane's landing gear on the plane's decent to the towers...any building directly affected by the attack is considered ground zero.

I can find nothing which supports your use of the phrase "ground zero". The phrase seems to consistently and exclusively refer to the WTC site - that is, where the actual explosion and destruction took place. Please provide a source which supports your claim.

Not trying to be a nit-picker, but the first building hit was the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex.

It isn't about what you find to be "weak by comparison" or which is the more accurate description.

The fact is, Muslim's around the world will view this "Islamic center near ground zero" as a sign of a military victory over the United States and Christianity (since they view the U.S. as a Christian nation).

It will be a recruiting tool for radicals and the focus of propaganda for the terrorists leaders.

    peace to you:praying:

It is not the "same way", billwald.

Those of us with Holy Spirit indwelling are convicted of the truth of God's Word, that Jesus is God and that He did die and that He was resurrected, and that He ascended into heaven at the right hand of the Father and that He will return to reign forever. Holy Spirit convicts us of these truths, that is if we have Holy Spirit indwelling. Those who deny these things are not from God.

Mohammed denied all of those things. Therefore, those who follow Mohammed's way of "knowing" are following a lie from Satan.

For you to equate Christian truth, revealed by Almighty God Himself through Holy Spirit, with the satanic rantings of Mohammed and his followers is very revealing about your own way of "knowing".

    peace to you:praying:

They say they have the testimony of God in their new testament which they call Q'ran.

In comparison to the actual fact of 9/11, the influence of such a thing will be vanishingly small.
