One of the ways, I sometimes start off, when presenting the Gospel, is with the fact that “everyone is going to live for ever, some place”...Either eternally in heaven or eternally in the lack of fire.

I am continually surprised at how popular it is becoming, to reject this truth, when people tell me that “a loving God wouldn’t do this”.

Who are they, to judge God?
    --------------------------------------------------
But one aspect of the lake of fire, that I withhold from this crowd is the fact that every lost sinner, that is brought up from hell, will stand before God at the great white throne, in a naked yet glorified body.

A body that will be able to experience all the torments of this fire that is never quenched, yet never die.

I figure if they are already rejecting the doctrine of eternal judgement, why waste my breath.

You could tell them that a loving God doesn't send them to hell. They have chosen to go there. Our loving God has provided a Savior to save us from hell. As lawbreakers, we were all bound for hell, but God provided the way back to Him if only we will reach out and receive it.

    Hello Amy.G

As you probably already know, they do not listen.

They are so busy trying to convince themselves, that “there is no hell”, that they just are not open to the truth.
    --------------------------------------------------
Fortunately, most of the time, God allows me to use a more “kinder and gentler” approach with the unsaved.

But sometimes, He leads me down this road, that seems to shut the doors to some people.

Amy let me respond to this because I hear this all the time. I realize that you are not the one who started this false teaching but it is still false. It is surprising how many preachers fall to this false teaching also.
Let me explain. In an attempt to keep God's name holy (which is not needed because He is holy) in the area of eternal hell fire, because of those who try and villainize God by saying a loving God would never send anyone to hell, someone came up with that saying (God does not send anyone to hell people send themselves). However it is simply false. While it is true that we are responsible for causing Him to take this action He still does the sending. The same is with any judge in our courts. The judge and or jury send men and women to prison or death. The judged do not go willingly and the same is true with those going to hell. God does and will send men to hell and all without even a hint of an apology. While He certainly does not get any joy out of it He will none the less carry it out. No one on the day of judgment (great white throne) is going to say me next. We need to tell people that He is loving and willing to forgive if they will repent and receive His Son as Lord, but He is also a just Judge and if they refuse His offer He WILL send them to hell.

You are not wasting your breath. One day the Lord God will remind them of your warning if they do not repent. All you can do is tell them the truth without sugar coating it. You are not responsible for their response or lack of it. Pray for them and move on, time is short.

I saw this sign post on a road one day.

Sooner or later you will believe in Jesus Christ.

    Sooner is better.

    Philippians 2
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    ituttut: A Just God will.
ituttut:Perhaps this would get a "rise" out of them to continue in conversation. But they may think it strange that God would give a high honor (glorification) to one He appoints to receive the second death.

I don't think that we can see any passage where unbelievers are given a "glorified" body. They are bodily resurrected, but only believers are "glorified" (1 Cor. 15).

    Hello dawilson8655, and welcome

You are right; There is no verse that says, the unsaved get glorified bodies, but it is implied in.........
    Revelation 14:11
“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

.....in the fact, that their bodies will last forever and ever.

Actually, the Bible says that we are born in our sin. That means that we are born condemned. Christ has come to rescue sinners from that reality. Suggesting that some action of humans can stop the effects of sin sort of puts the weight of salvation on our own own shoulders, yet it is solely by the completed atoning work of Christ that we are saved.

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

I assume you believe that infants that die are condemned and will spend eternity in hell?

Do we have scriptural evidence to the contrary?

That being said, I am one who has lost an infant. The question is deeply personal to me. What I hope for is a God who is ALWAYS good and ALWAYS merciful and ALWAYS gracious and correct to the uttermost in His judgment to do the right thing, whatever that is.

I see King David, who mourned his sick infant until the time when that infant passed away. David then cleaned up, took a meal, and said, "I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me." (2 Sam 12:23).

Jesus had a soft spot for children (Matt 18:2; Luke 9:47)), and chastised His disciples for hindering their coming to Him. He also said that we would need faith like a little child in order to gain eternity.

Paul noted that Timothy was a student of the Scriptures since Timothy was a little child on his mother and grandmother's knee.

All passages that show us God's love for children, but none of which explicitly promise salvation, which is in Christ alone. That, and which child "decides" to trust in Christ for salvation? If that is the action required for salvation, then no child has hope, for they cannot profess, and often others profess on their behalf (virtually meaningless, but a good sentiment if the child is indeed reared in the Christian way).

They also cannot deny, which is what condemns us.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

    Amy, not according to scripture.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We are born lost. We are condemned because of unbelief and that unbelief is even if we have not heard the gospel. We do not have to hear it or understand it and then turn it down to be in unbelief. We do not become lost at a certain age or because we actually deny the gospel. Now even though I say that I am not saying that there is no age of accountability as men suggest, nor am I suggesting that there is. I am simply pointing out what scripture teaches.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

According to scripture a person is condemned already because of unbelief and we are under unbelief even if we do not hear.

So, are you saying that we are all good until the time when we reject God?

No. We are all born/conceived with a sinful nature that we inherited from our father Adam. That is why ALL die. The blood of Christ is sufficient for all and babies are included in this. They will be redeemed. They cannot be condemned for unbelief because they are unable to do so.

This is just one of the problems with the Calvinist position. You have babies going to hell because they were not "chosen".

Before this becomes too untracked by the original sin debate, have you asked them how their logic would hold up in a court of law? Ask them if they committed a crime, would the judge let them off the hook because he is a loving judge, or is it his job to enforce the law?

Amy where does Calvinism teach that babies go to hell because they were not chosen? By the way I am not a Calvinist. I never met the man or have I ever read anything that he has written.
