    Ex-Lawmaker Charged in Terror Conspiracy

WASHINGTON (AP) - A former congressman and delegate to the United Nations was indicted Wednesday as part of a terrorist fundraising ring that allegedly sent more than $130,000 to an al-Qaida and Taliban supporter who has threatened U.S. and international troops in Afghanistan. The former Republican congressman from Michigan, Mark Deli Siljander, was charged with money laundering, conspiracy and obstructing justice for allegedly lying about lobbying senators on behalf of an Islamic charity that authorities said was secretly sending funds to terrorists.

If found guilty, I hope he never gets out of jail.

    I agree!

Since we are at war with these same Islamic radicals that this former Congressman was supplying with money, shouldn't he be charged with treason and be given a death sentence if found guilty?

A case could be made for a treason charge, but I doubt it will be.

The other is much easier to prove.

Treason is historically hard to prove.

Of course!! But don't count on it in our psycho-babbled society.

It'll all be blamed on his messed up childhood ( his father didn't hug him enough--:BangHead:) & he'll get a slap on the wrist, called "naughty boy" and released to wreak more havoc on the nation!

On this I tend to agree with Carpro except I'd waterboard him to get a confession first! Why waste taxpayer money on a long show trial when the guy will probably get a big raise and a cushy promotion after his case is thrown out on a legal technicality.

There's already a "precedent" for it. Poindexter? Darpa? Total Information Awareness? Iran Contra?
