We run most everything through American Express (COSTCO) because of the good cash kickback. This gives The Wife a decent record of 95% of our non-check cash flow. This accounts for everything but maybe $20/week.

Do you account for the money that flows out of your house?

We live on a rather well documented and self-enforced budget. We have family budget meetings at least twice a month on Saturdays to review bills paid, known immediate and future expenses, and anticipated expenses along with any other financial concerns and we pray during that time for wisdom with our finances. Thank you MS Excel also.

For special occasions...Christmas, a financial checkup.

I will have clients do this. They are shocked at times when they are forced to deal with what they have going out.
