NKJV is a definate number one. I guess the NASB would rank second, with the KJV and Amplified tied for third. NIV would be fourth.

Yes, I know the Amplified is not the greatest one out there, but it is one of the four bibles in my parallel, and it does a good job of pinning down the "umph" of a word.

    In Christ,

KJV is my favorite modern version.
After that the RSV, but I keep hearing about the new CJB and want to check it out.

I am undecided between the NASB and ESV. I used to be a NKJV guy.

I remember when my favorite modern version was the KJV.

This is actually quite fascinating. I thought the NIV would win "hands-down" based entirely on sales. The NKJV does not really surprise me though, since it has been gaining in popularity.

Don't stop posting, the bigger the cross-section the more interesting this will be.

For those of you who have posted, I thank you VERY MUCH! [IMG]

I must really be stupid, what is the NASB-U? Have I missed something?

I post this at the risk of sounding like a real goofus. :D

I still use mine sometimes too, but after 103 years the binding is getting so loose that the pages are falling out. :( What really bothers me, though, is that I am having the same trouble with my hair! :D

Well I enjoy My NIV when I am studying, along with Strongs accordance and other, but this is about Bibles.
My second would be the KJV; never had a chance to look at a NKJV.

    1) NKJV - It's been my long-time choice for regular use.

    2) ESV - This is becoming my favorite.

    3) NASB - Long time companion for Bible study.

    4) RSV - Don't use it anymore, but I memorized alot of scripture from it and it has a special place for me.

    5) NIV - Occasional use for devotional reading and reading at church. Not my favorite, but it's the most popular version at my church and the one my pastor uses regularly.

...27) "The Message" - Eugene Petersen's light and easy commentary of the bible. I might read this one if I'm stranded on an island and it's the only one available.
